Choose a theme that interests you - then find that wherever you are - ie national parks or historic sites - jazz clubs. - local brew pubs - modern art galleries etc.

When going through Sk, get off the Trans Canada, it follows the flattest, boringest route and will leave a negative impression

20 miles north from Man. to Regina there is the Qu'Appelle Valley, absolutely beautiful and most travellers don't even know it is there.

Try and make a stop somewhere in the Okanagan, especially if you love wine! Kelowna is your best bet! As well as Lake Louise and Banff!

No Lac Louise there is a better lake 10 min away...not crowed... It really depend on what you like... museum, nature, going out in bar... but do not miss Drumheller and the dinosaurs museum... for the rest really depend on you... knowing what you like would help

If it were my choice i would travel through kamloops through Jasper to edmonton over the yellowhead there and take the southern routes home. Glacier national park is I southern AB. Saskatoon is a beautiful city, the yellow head through SK is much prettier. You can also stop at the Quill lakes (largest bird migration corridor)

you HAVE to see all "world's largest..." in each province! Starting with the hockey stick in Duncan! The egg in Alberta, the coffee pot in Sask, the curling rock in Mb...etc...etc!

Thanks, everyone! We will be starting in Victoria, then Vancouver, and taking the train to Kamloops, Jasper, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Montreal, Moncton and Halifax. We do have a parks pass although I'm not sure how much we will be using it as we will mostly be taking public transport.
We don't drink and aren't into the nightlife. I'm definitely a foodie so I will be checking out food everywhere!!
Pam we will for sure be doing 150 things on our trip! I am going to write a blog and I will post the link to your comment once it's started up if you're interested in reading about them
Thanks again everyone for the great ideas and now I'm starting to think we should visit NL too..
