If cost is important then now is the best time and you'd get the tail end of summer. Weather wise mid January through February tend to be the best part of the NZ summer. Ticket prices if they fall generally drop near the end of January. You will pay a premium if you want to get there before Christmas.

Living here right now and the weather is pretty good in Auckland. Evenings are starting to get a little more chilly but bearable. If winter activities are your thing come for the nz winter and head to Queenstown and Wanaka in the south, its stunning.

I have only been to Australia, and we always go in Feb. Mar..and the weather has been beautiful. This year it was still very hot, but it's usually starting to cool down to high 20s to mid 30s. Perfect. I'm not sure if New Zealand is the same.

Went there Dec which was summertime! We stayed at my family in Queenstown in CHC. It was 10 to 24 degrees weather. But I like to go when it is summer coz I love swimming and doing summer activities such as hiking, road trip and seeing the landscape

When's the Best Time to Go to New Zealand?

New Zealand is a country with a diverse climate, so the best time to go depends on what you're looking to do and see. Here's a breakdown of the seasons:

  1. Spring (September to November): Spring is a great time to visit New Zealand if you're looking for mild weather and fewer crowds. The days are getting longer and the temperatures are starting to rise, making it perfect for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities.
  2. Summer (December to February): Summer is the most popular time to visit New Zealand, and for good reason. The weather is warm and sunny, and the days are long. This is a great time to relax on the beach, go for a swim, or explore the country's many national parks.
  3. Autumn (March to May): Autumn is another great time to visit New Zealand if you're looking for mild weather and fewer crowds. The days are starting to get shorter and the temperatures are cooling down, but it's still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. This is a great time to see the leaves changing color and to go for a drive through the countryside.
  4. Winter (June to August): Winter is a great time to visit New Zealand if you're looking for snow and winter sports. The mountains are covered in snow, and the ski resorts are open. This is also a great time to see the Southern Lights.

Ultimately, the best time to visit New Zealand depends on your interests and travel style. However, no matter when you go, you're sure to have an amazing time.
