Even if you're not a religious person, be sure to attend a church service. I went ages ago but I remember how lively it was and how welcoming everyone was. Have fun!

We'll probably splurge on the Aitutaki day trip, a friend recently did this and said it was incredible. I think I'll wait to book when we're there though and hopefully plan for a good weather day. Would hate to spend that much and it's rainy and cloudy!

Will need some budget activities to balance it out though, planning on bussing around the island to a new snorkel spot every day or two.

Take in one of the Heritage shows in the evening- I did Te Vera Nui on my first visit, and Highland Cultural show this past Easter. I agree to attend a church service and they serve morning tea afterwards... and the highlight of this last trip was the day trip to Aitutaki-that was amazing!!

Cook Islands Budget Activities

If you're looking for ways to save money on your upcoming trip to the Cook Islands, here are a few budget-friendly activities to consider:

  • Visit the Muri Night Market. This weekly market is a great place to find local crafts, souvenirs, and food. You can also enjoy live music and cultural performances.
  • Go snorkeling or kayaking. The Cook Islands are home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. You can snorkel or kayak for free at many of the beaches on Rarotonga and Aitutaki.
  • Hike to the Needle. This short hike leads to a stunning viewpoint of Rarotonga. It's a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the scenery.
  • Visit the Cook Islands Library and Museum. This museum has a collection of artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of the Cook Islands. It's a great place to learn about the history and culture of the islands.
  • Take a walk along the Rarotonga Coastal Road. This scenic road offers stunning views of the ocean and the island's coastline. It's a great place to go for a walk, run, or bike ride.

These are just a few ideas for budget-friendly activities in the Cook Islands. With a little planning, you can easily have a great vacation without breaking the bank.
