Min 4 nights. There a few companies that depart from the hotels around dtown area and offer daily sand dune rides and camel safaris. Checkout out Burj Khalifa while you are in Dubai.

Abu Dhabi grand mosque. Gold souq in deira. Go by abra. Al fahidi historical district and Arabic cafe there. Many fine dining options. Reserve ahead. Find a hotel near the burj and metro line.

There's a full day tour offered for Abu Dhabi which covers pretty much all to see there. We were in Dubai for 5 nights and the Desert Safari is offered at all the tour desks in the hotels. We stayed at the Landmark Grand hotel....great location with a mall and all the eateries you can think of right across the street. Lots of hustle and bustle along the strip late into the evening. Metro station is right across the street.
