Definitely Florence. There’s a Vinyard with a castle about 40 minutes away (can’t remember the name for some reason...
), but absolutely life changing! Also, the St. Regis (right on the Arno river) has the most comfy bed I’ve ever slept in. That being said, the Exedra Boscolo in Rome has huge bathrooms and elevators you can fit in!
Fay
Thanks cousin

Rome

If you’ve experienced all the hot spots...Rome, Florence and Venice I would recommend renting a car and exploring Tuscany. It truly is magical. It holds all the wonderful things about those main cities with a special charm. The prices are better, the people are amazing and the little towns are so cool.
Eva
Many beautiful parts of Italy, but if you have been to the main cities and touristy spots I would head to the south, the Amalfi coast would be beautiful also but I think I would head to Sicily or Sardinia - history - many Ancient Greek ruins in Sicily, crystal clear blue waters, not as touristy as some spots
Wendy
Rome! I did not spend nearly enough time there. Next time I’d go for five days at least. And Pompeii. I only spent a couple hours there and i should have been a full day for sure.
Sharon
Going back this Fall to Rome, but doing a day trip to Florence, and Naples was lovely, for the one day we were there. We are also doing a day trip to Pompeii, never been.
Rebecca
Northern Italy skipping Milan. I loved Sienna Florence Cinque Terre and Padua as a commuter city to see Venice. We used it as a hub but fell in love with its vibe, markets and food scene.

If you go to Italy you are taking me with you !

Fondi!! You can take the train from Rome to go there. I could cab to Sperlonga to spend a full day there. Take a bus tour to go to Positano (do not drive to go there!!)
Norman
Love Sperlonga
Christin
Most beautiful place in the world I have seen I think!! And not full of tourists like those big city in Italy
Doug
Christin love the comment on cars. We had a mid-sized SUV for our travels in Italy which was great for day trips and keeping up with Italy’s infamous drivers on the Autostrata but useless in the villages.
Christin
Omg poor you!! We had a golf and I was holding the handle and almost had a few heart attacks!!
Mike
I still say you need a few days actually in Sperlonga, lots to see, great atmosphere there, the restaurants, too much to experience to only go for a day.
Quincy
Capri and Malta (Valhetta). Both were a bit off the beaten path and amazing!
Anisha
Tuscan and Umbria countryside, driving between all the small towns and staying in an agroturismo! It was awesome.
I would also spend more time in the south which was beautiful!
Trina
I loved cinque terre, as well as Venice was a total bucket list place. Capri was lovely too.
Sarah
The Amalfi coast ,Venice ,the northern alps ,the Tuscany area beautiful all of it
Doug
It depends on the time of year but Tuscany (Florence, Sienna, Montepulciano) was our hands-down favourite. I say time-of-year because early spring (April) can still be pretty dreary and the leaves aren’t out yet. Also, the vineyards burn-off their deadfall at that time and the low areas in the countryside tend to be hazy. I’d go back in May-June. Don’t underestimate how much time you’ll need in Florence. It is an incredible city with so much to see it is impossible in less than 4 days. After Florence, we spent 4 days in an incredible, hilltop village called Montepulciano. It is a gem in its own right but also very central and easy to day trip out to all of the surround sites and attractions. Sienna is also a must see location. I can recommend places to stay in Florence and Montepulciano if your interested in a non-traditional, 17th century experience.
Billie
LOVED the Amalfi Coast region and wish we could've spent more time there!

Lake Como and Cinque Terre. My wallet was surreptitiously removed from my fanny pack....near the Spanish Steps. The hot fingered thieves are a huge problem there.

Nandini
Hi.. i am visiting Puglia in May. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Giselle
Nandini beaches are breathtaking. !! We stayed in Monopoli (Casa Aurora). Beached hopped there. Some are walking distance. Some you drive. Alberobello is a must as is Pignano a Mare. I’ve been to all of these a few times and still my favorites. In Pignano a Mare there is a restaurant in a grotto open to the Adiatic Sea. Google it. Expensive. Yup. But worth it. Reservations needed. My husband is from Caserta and this is his favorite region to go to.
Nandini
Giselle oh wow!! thats amazing.. Also that restaurant looks amazing!! i will definitely try visiting.
I was thinking of visiting Bari , Matera , Alberobello , Monopoli, ostuni, leece, galipoli. i have 6 days for all these places. do you think i can do it all using transit?
Giselle
Matera is AMAZING. Bari stick to the beaches. Alberobello. Spend one night in a trulli. Monopoli one of my fav cities. Ostuni you can just spend the day. The same with Galapoli. Leece also a day. Pignano a Mare is very close to Monopoli and Alberobello and Bari. OMG. I don’t know you but super excited !!
I’m not sure about public transit to all these places. Sorry. We had a car.
Nandini
Giselle thank you

If You Were to Go Back to Italy, Where Would You Go?
Italy is a country that is rich in history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. If I were to go back to Italy, one area that I would love to explore is Tuscany.
Why Tuscany?
Tuscany is known for its stunning countryside, rolling hills, vineyards, and historic cities such as Florence, Siena, and Pisa. The region is also famous for its delicious cuisine, especially its wines and olive oils.
What to Do in Tuscany
While in Tuscany, I would love to visit the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, explore the art and architecture of Florence, and take a leisurely drive through the picturesque Chianti wine region. I would also make sure to indulge in the local cuisine, including fresh pasta, truffles, and gelato.
Where to Stay
There are many charming agriturismos (farm stays) and boutique hotels in Tuscany that offer a unique and authentic experience. Staying in a villa in the countryside or a historic palazzo in the city would provide the perfect base for exploring the region.
Conclusion
Tuscany is a region that offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. If I were to go back to Italy, Tuscany would be at the top of my list of places to visit.
