Visa on arrival was hassle free for myself and much cheaper, if you are comfortable with that option.
Patrick
But... There's a 15-day maximum visit I believe for VoA... but this goes back to 2011.
Jason
30 day or 90 day option. Difference in cost you have to factor in is if single entry or multiple entry.

If it's a tourist visa, it's way cheaper to just buy one (the approval letter) online from an online travel agency (just google: vietnam visa on arrival approval letter - compare prices on different sites, as it's always changing). You won't receive an actual visa sticker to put in your passport until you arrive. There is also a stamping fee when your arrive in vietnam which varies in price depending on the length \ number of entries you have purchased with your "approval letter"

Been to Vietnam many times just get the visa on arrival once you get there apply for the Visa letter at home print it out and bring it to the airport you will have to show this from your Canadian departure airport or they won't let you on the plane
Gary
We did it through the consulate in Vancouver, I'm not sure of the cost, but we wanted to make sure that it was all in order and there would be no hassles.
Paul
I did mine online with the consulate of Vietnam... easy

If you do decide you want to go the consulate route, I submitted visa applications in person 2 years ago.
I do think we paid more however (vs online or on arrival)
Andrew
In vietnam now just did the visa on arrival. Much cheaper than applying in Vancouver consulate 8 usd for letter 25 for stamp and have an option for 20 usd to have someone meet you there and avoid any line up.
Vicki
Great to know. We'll be arriving ahead of our trip schedule so won't be pressed for time. This will definitely be cheaper than the at least $90 CDN charge - plus the courier cost.
. Thank you!
Andrew
Make sure to arrive on the time frame on dates your applied for on your approval letter. Have it printed out and filled out NA1 form with a photo attached
Michael
Do it online. E visa is very easy. Makes sure you fill out the second document that says who you are, etc. Then just have the US dollars to pay when you arrive
Clint
Yes. Pay $100 for a 30 day single entry an PU 3 days later. Did want the hassle at the Hanoi airport.
Andrew
There wasnt a hassle at all when you arrive at the airport. Especially if you paud extra for someone to meet you. They do everything for you. Saw a lady pass thru the gate beforeeveryone that lined up
Yan
We got our from the travel agent. They did it for us when we purchased our ticket. Online...

Applying for a Vietnam Visa in Person
Yes, it is possible to submit a visa application for Vietnam in person to the consulate. However, it is important to note that not all consulates offer this service. To find out if the consulate in your area offers in-person visa applications, you can contact the consulate directly.
If the consulate in your area does offer in-person visa applications, you will need to make an appointment in advance. You can usually do this by calling the consulate or by visiting their website. When you make your appointment, you will be asked to provide your name, contact information, and the dates you will be traveling to Vietnam.
On the day of your appointment, you will need to bring your passport, a completed visa application form, and the required fee. The fee for a visa will vary depending on the type of visa you are applying for and the length of your stay in Vietnam. You can usually pay the fee by cash, credit card, or debit card.
Once you have submitted your application, the consulate will review it and make a decision. If your application is approved, you will be issued a visa. The visa will be valid for a specific period of time, and you will need to enter Vietnam within that time period.
If you have any questions about applying for a Vietnam visa in person, you can contact the consulate in your area for more information.

Does anyone here know if one is allowed to submit a Visa application for Vietnam in person to the consulate (versus using a courier or mail)?
