Is Marrakesh a Good Destination for a Family Trip with Teenagers?

Question:
Humans say...
Cathy
Barcelona is loads of fun and vibrant! That would be my vote.
Yoanella
Barcelona is amazing for teens and Madrid too. Options are endless in both cities
Cathy
Yoanella I didn’t find Madrid had the same appeal for my teens.
Asma
Omg love Barcelona, the food and the vibe… also costa brava
Rick
Marrakesh was hit by the earthquake in Sept, be sure to check how they are doing before heading that.
Terry
We just got back from Marrakech. The earthquake did not affect the city.
Lexa
Terry thx it’s ok bc we are going March break and heading to Fes too.
Terry
You will love it Lexa. If you can fit it in, Chefchaouen, the "blue city" is worth a visit.
Lexa
Terry I have a week only so 2 days in MaKkarech then flying into Fes; one day in FES and a day trip to the blue city and a 2 day with one overnight trip through the Sahara desert back to MaKkarech to fly home. It’s tight but I will see the blue city for a day trip.
Lexa
Terry may I ask bow you got to Chefchaouen?
Terry
We were touring with Exoticca Sue.
Lexa
Terry on ok I heard, reasonable tour group. Am doing my own with day tips with tour company
Terry
Lexa happy Trails to you.

Barcelona will be easy to get to from Valencia. Marrakech less so. Sitges, Cadaques, Figueres are all amazing and are on the way or around Barcelona. Madrid is amazing but is a frying pan in July so, although it’s my fave place ever, I would discourage it as there is no respite from the heat.
Cedric
Valencia in July/Aug is full of escapees from Madrid where the heat kills. Barcelona is a wonderful vibrant city with character, rich history & an art deco gallery.
Joan
There is a great train service from beautiful Valencia to Barcelona. Both are great choices for the teens and adults.
Hye
if you want contrast, marrakesh.
if you want more spain, either madrid/barcelona.
marrakesh is noisy, hot, and a bit crazy, but that's what makes it worthwhile. i would do marrakesh.
Gail
I absolutely love Barcelona. Amazing food, architecture, incredible vibe. I would go back again and again if I could.
Dee
I’m surprised no one mentioned Mallorca, which is a short flight or ferry ride away from Valencia!
Heather
LOVE Valencia - food, city riverwalk, beach! Not a fan of Barcelona - far too commercialized, food is mediocre, beach sub par but Gaudi is nice to see if u do go there. I've heard so many great things about Madrid & Marrakesh!

I'm a massive Madrid fan, so that's my bias. Check out all the ancient tapas bars full of great nibbles: https://www.restaurantescentenarios.es/en/

Valencia or Marrakech: a guide for a summer trip with teenagers
If you're planning a summer trip to Spain with your teenage daughters, you're in for a treat. Spain is a beautiful country with a rich culture and history, and there's something for everyone to enjoy. But if you're only going to be in Spain for a week, you'll need to make some choices about where to go.
Two of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain are Valencia and Barcelona. Both cities are located on the Mediterranean coast and offer a wide range of activities and attractions. However, there are also some key differences between the two cities.
Valencia is a smaller and more laid-back city than Barcelona. It's also less expensive, which can be a major consideration when traveling with teenagers. Valencia is home to some of Spain's most beautiful beaches, as well as a number of historical and cultural attractions. The City of Arts and Sciences is a must-see, and the old town is full of charming shops and restaurants.
Barcelona is a larger and more cosmopolitan city than Valencia. It's also more expensive, but there's more to see and do. Barcelona is home to some of the world's most famous architecture, including the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell. The city also has a vibrant nightlife and shopping scene.
If you're looking for a more relaxed and affordable trip, Valencia is a great option. If you're looking for a more exciting and cosmopolitan trip, Barcelona is a better choice.
If you're still undecided, you could also consider adding a few days in Marrakech, Morocco to your trip. Marrakech is a fascinating city with a unique culture and history. It's also relatively inexpensive, and it's easy to get to from Spain. However, it's important to note that Marrakech is a Muslim country, and there are some cultural differences that you should be aware of before you go.
Here are some tips for traveling to Valencia, Barcelona, or Marrakech with teenagers:
- Book your flights and accommodations in advance, especially if you're traveling during the peak season.
- Get a travel insurance policy that covers your family in case of an emergency.
- Pack light and leave plenty of room for souvenirs.
- Be prepared for the heat, especially if you're traveling during the summer months.
- Do some research on the local culture and customs before you go.
- Be respectful of the local people and their way of life.
No matter where you decide to go, you're sure to have a great time in Spain. It's a beautiful country with a rich culture and history, and there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Hi gang. We will be in Valencia Spain for a week next July and are considering adding a few days in either Barcelona, Madrid or Marrakesh. Travelling with 2 female teenagers. Leaning towards Marrakesh but wondered if anyone had experiences good or bad in any of the three? We know it will be hot! TIA!
