We usually stay at Coast Hotel YVR for early flights and shuttle to airport. Parking if you need it.

2 hours is the recommemded time. The gate closes an hour before the flight. I usually get there an hour and a half before but give yourself 2 hours if youre not familliar with airports or have kids etc.

Awesome! 2 hours was what I was thinking, but I had friends say 3. I'm happy with 2! I wasn't sure if Mexico city was considered international or not.

Michael Friesen As far as I know, it is only the charter airlines like air transat that require 3 hours....

Be aware that the line up for security can be very long. Especially on early morning flights. Go 3 hours early. And then don't stress about missing your flight.

Go 2hrs before w/ ur family n all ur stuff. Then when u miss ur flight, you’ll think hmmm, maybe that extra hour of sleep wasn’t worth it. But then what wud I know after 40 years of air travel/airports experience . . .??

I believe recommended time is 2hrs for domestic and 3hrs for international flights

I think 3 is recommended for international overseas flights like UK/Europe

Check to see how many other flights are departing an hour either side of your flight - if there are lots of big flights then do the three hours, if only a few than do the 2 - check in and security will where they could be busy

oh for goodness sake guys 3 hours for international is standard for all airports in the world. go leisurely and relax so easy. why would you push it?

I agree, but getting to the airport at 4:30 in the morning, means everything is pretty much closed, so you can't even entertain yourself with browsing while you are waiting, or having breakfast. I pack my carry on with a variety of things to keep me entertained, but, I travel with a fidgiter who is constantly pacing and being exceedingly annoying. But then that is often the cost of getting a great travel deal.

The issue in not checking in with the airlines, it’s getting through Security especially if there are several international flights departing about the same time ....

5:45-6am. Lots of time.

I recommend 3 hours as the airlines do. It can be long line for security so why stress yourself? I've had people pushing to the front of the line all wound up because they didn't leave enough time for security and their flight was being called. It almost caused a fight and airport security cuts you no slack for being late. Don't be a dick and give yourself 3 hours.

Security is quite a bit faster if you have Nexus card.....

Since she didn't think Mexico City was international I doubt she has a Nexus card. Just saying.

It has been advised for all international travels minimum of 3 hrs including USA and 2 hrs for all domestic flights. I’ve worked in travel tourism industry for 14yrs. I had a friend left YVR to Mexico (evening flight) was there 1.5-2 hrs before her flight but she missed it due to long security line up.

I’m a flight attendant. Yvr security isn’t even open three hours before that. I think it opens at 530? So check in online drop off your bags and go. 2 should be plenty

I have a flight in May that departs at 6am to San Fransisco... now I’m questioning my own comment earlier since you’re saying they’re probably not even open till 5:30. Btw, hi Tsu’s sister

Also on the off chance if you get there and the international security is crazy busy (doubt it at 530) little known fact... go through domestic security and connect to international from there.

3 hours is absolutely crazy!! The gate probably wont even be open. Two is well enough time especially at 5:30. I give myself an hour and a half or two depending on the airport

Our flight recently, left at 6:00am for the USA. We stayed at the Fairmont. The bellhop recommended 3hrs early! We went down at 3:30am and there were tons of people and a lineup for security. We were told that early morning the tarmac is mega busy. Take that in to consideration. I’d get there between 5 and 5:30 at the latest.

USA departure is another story. Always go early because you have to do security AND customs

When to Arrive at the Airport for a Flight from YVR to Mexico City

If you are flying from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Mexico City, it is important to arrive at the airport well in advance of your departure time. The recommended arrival time for international flights is 3 hours before departure.

For a flight departing at 7:30am, it is recommended that you arrive at the airport no later than 4:30am. This will give you enough time to check in, go through security, and find your gate. It is also a good idea to arrive at the airport earlier if you are checking in luggage or if you have any special needs.

YVR is a busy airport, so it is important to factor in extra time for traffic and parking. If you are driving to the airport, allow yourself plenty of time to find a parking space and get to the terminal.

Once you arrive at the airport, proceed to the check-in counter for your airline. You will need to present your passport and boarding pass. You can also check in online or through the airline's mobile app.

After you have checked in, you will need to go through security. This process can take some time, so it is important to be patient. You will need to remove your shoes, jacket, and any metal objects from your pockets. You will also need to place your carry-on luggage on the conveyor belt.

Once you have cleared security, you will be able to proceed to your gate. Your boarding pass will indicate which gate your flight will be departing from.

It is a good idea to arrive at your gate at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. This will give you enough time to board the plane and find your seat.

By following these tips, you can ensure that you have a smooth and stress-free travel experience.
