You need to be street smart in that part of the world. Only go to vetted, researched places. It's not a region for going off the beaten path or solo exploring. I grew up there and have traveled all over Southern Africa.

I agree with Jeff. I was there in November 2021 and found it to be dodgier than I thought it would be. Having said that, those who haven’t left were a friendly bunch.

Traveling to Zimbabwe via South Africa on Lufthansa: Tips and Advice

Traveling to Zimbabwe via South Africa on Lufthansa can be a great experience, but it's important to be prepared for the journey. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your trip:

  1. Book your flights early. Lufthansa flights to Zimbabwe can book up quickly, so it's important to book your tickets as early as possible. This will give you the best chance of getting the flights you want at the price you want.
  2. Get a visa. Citizens of most countries need a visa to enter Zimbabwe. You can apply for a visa online or at your nearest Zimbabwean embassy or consulate.
  3. Pack for the weather. Zimbabwe has a tropical climate, so it's important to pack light, breathable clothing. You'll also want to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.
  4. Be prepared for a long flight. The flight from Johannesburg to Harare is about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Be sure to bring a book, some music, or a movie to keep you entertained during the flight.
  5. Be aware of the local customs. Zimbabwe is a culturally diverse country, so it's important to be respectful of the local customs. For example, it's considered rude to point your finger at someone or to touch someone's head.
  6. Be prepared for adventure. Zimbabwe is a beautiful country with a lot to offer visitors. Be sure to explore the country's many national parks, historical sites, and cultural attractions.

By following these tips, you can help ensure that your trip to Zimbabwe is a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience.
