Susan
Thanks. I just felt that with Hostelling International there seems to be more safety.
James
Safety shouldn't be too much of a concern in Japan.
Andrew
Japan is very safe also check out businessman hotels and capsule inns usually as cheap as a hostel
Susan
Capsule inns? I don't know what they are. Will investigate. Thanks.
Andrew
Had one of by best night sleep in a capsule inn. It's like a dorm room but you can close your capsule for privacy
Simon
I may be wrong cause the last time I tried to stay in a capsule hotel was in the 90's, but I think they don't allow women in capsule hotels.

Visiting Kagoshima, Japan in October
Kagoshima, a city located on the southern tip of Japan's Kyushu Island, is a fascinating destination with its rich history, stunning natural landscapes, and vibrant culture. If you're planning a trip to Kagoshima in October, here are some tips to help you make the most of your visit.
When to Buy Your Ticket
When it comes to buying your flight ticket to Kagoshima, the earlier you book, the better. Generally, it's recommended to purchase your ticket at least three to six months in advance to get the best deals. Airlines often release their flight schedules and prices around 11 months before the travel date, so keep an eye out for any promotions or sales during that period.
However, if you're flexible with your travel dates, you can also try to book your ticket a few weeks before your desired travel date. Airlines sometimes offer last-minute discounts to fill up empty seats, but this approach can be risky as availability and prices can fluctuate rapidly.
Accommodation Options in Kagoshima
While there may not be a Hostelling International (HI) hostel in Kagoshima, the city offers various safe and affordable accommodation options for travelers. Here are a few recommendations:
- Guest House Yuzuki: This cozy guest house is located in the heart of Kagoshima City, near the famous Terukuni Shrine. It offers both dormitory-style and private rooms at reasonable prices, along with a shared kitchen and common areas.
- Kagoshima City Hostel: This modern hostel is popular among budget travelers, offering clean and comfortable dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms. It's conveniently located near the Kagoshima-Chuo Station and has a friendly staff.
- Sakurajima Viewspa: If you're looking for a unique experience, consider staying at this hostel located near the iconic Sakurajima volcano. It offers dormitory rooms, private rooms, and even hot spring baths with views of the volcano.
When choosing a hostel or guesthouse, it's always a good idea to read reviews from previous guests to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.
