Currently in Barcelona as I read this post, it is an amazing city. What would you like to know exactly? You can PM me if you wish. I really enjoyed Costa Brava which is about 1 hr north of the city & Madrid as well which is to the south. Let me know if you want hotel recommendations or what have you.

I just returned from Spain also - Barcelona, San Sebastian/Bilbao, Costa Blanca (Alicante area) and Valencia. Feel free to PM me for feedback too, if you wish. You will love it!

I went on a road trip (7 days total) through Spain in 2014 and we drove down from Barcelona to Sevilla, and then to Madrid. You have to stop in Sevilla, you will LOVE it!!

Planning a Trip to Spain
Hi there! You mentioned that you're planning to visit Spain in July for a week, and you're specifically interested in Barcelona. Here are some suggestions to help you plan your trip:
Barcelona
Barcelona is a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage and stunning architecture. It's definitely worth spending a few days exploring its highlights. Here are some recommendations:
- La Rambla: This famous pedestrian boulevard is a must-visit. Stroll along, people-watch, and check out the street performers, cafes, and souvenir shops.
- La Sagrada Familia: Designed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí, this iconic basilica is a true masterpiece. Be sure to book your tickets in advance to avoid long queues.
- Park Güell: Another remarkable work by Gaudí, this whimsical park offers stunning views of the city and unique architectural elements.
- Gothic Quarter: Explore the charming narrow streets, historic buildings, and lively plazas in this beautiful neighborhood.
Depending on your interests, you could spend 3-4 days in Barcelona and still have time to see the highlights.
Other Destinations in Spain
Since you have a week, you might want to consider visiting another city or region in Spain. Here are some options:
- Madrid: The capital city of Spain offers world-class museums, such as the Prado and Reina Sofia, as well as lively neighborhoods, vibrant nightlife, and delicious cuisine.
- Seville: This Andalusian city is known for its Moorish architecture, flamenco culture, and the stunning Alcázar palace.
- Costa del Sol: If you're looking for some beach time, head to the sunny Costa del Sol region, famous for its resort towns like Marbella and Málaga.
- Valencia: This coastal city boasts a magnificent historic center, modern architecture (like the City of Arts and Sciences), and delicious paella.
You could combine Barcelona with one of these destinations, or even do a small road trip through multiple cities, depending on your preferences and desired pace.
Remember to book your accommodations and transportation in advance, and be prepared for the warm July weather. Enjoy your trip to Spain!
