You don't need a convertor for most electronics; just the plug adaptor. I have a flat iron and blow dryer for travelling that automatically convert. I just need the adaptor. Most converters do not easily handle appliances such as flat irons and blow dryers very well. They tend to burn out.

I'm needing for my son's and my phone and iPad.

If the plug says input 100-240v you dont need the converter.

I travel with this from MEC. It adapts most outlets and has a 5V USB charger (2 devices at a time), so you just bring it, your Lightning cable and your mini-USB cable (if you have Android devices too) and you can charge most things. As others have said, most electronics and laptop computers will work on 110 to 220 V AC (sometimes you have to flip a switch; usually not) - you just have to check to confirm. https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5052-152/MUV-USB-World-Adapter

This will work, but you likely don't need to spend this much money. If you just need it for your phones and iPad, check the power in them...if they say 110-220V then the voltage is ok and you don't need a converter. All you need is a plug adaptor, which looks like the one bottom left in your pic (I think). You need an adapter to plug your charger cord into, and the adapter will plug into their outlets. No converter needed if whatever you want to charge is 100-220V.

UK and mainland Europe use different standards. I would simply get an universal one from the dollar store, they work as same as the 30 dollars airport ones.

Your golden.
95% of chargers if you look on the back will say 120-220V
Laptops, USB chargers etc.
Only things that are specially 120V you'l need to use the Convertor. Otherwise the plugs you have there are fine

Like someone said above, for your phones and iPad all you really need is something to plug your USB cord into. Your sister probably has one you can use. If not they can be bought for cheap once you're there.

This is my iPad charger. All you should need is a plug like this, but different prongs that fit in their outlets, and then you plug your USB end into it. Your sister might already have one or two around the house, and if not they can be bought for cheap there. If your sister has an iPad you could use her charger.

When your in the UK you'll need to use the converter with the plug but everywhere else just the one that says Europe is good

The adapters are fine, just make sure anything you bring that has rotating parts is rated for 240V (hair dryer, plug in electric razor, etc.), everything else is fine.

There is a one piece international universal adaptor available. Samsonite is a well recognized name. They make one that I would recommend.

Yes the ones with the 2 prongs is what I needed to charge my electronics...

I bought one from Shoppers Drug Mart and it worked well

And don't worry about 110, 120 or 220V, those are made to work on 240

I used that set on Europe no problem

For an iPhone or iPad in the uk or Europe you will be good with the plug, no convertor required. For other electricals you need to check to see if they are dual voltage. If you check the item and it says 110-220 then they will work and again you are good with just the plug. If not you would need a voltage converter also

Yes it does work. I do have the same, and it works in Europe and middle east.

I bought the Apple adapter for my phone, a flat iron that came from Italy and a specific adapter for Italy. All my electronics had a built in converter.

Check either on the cord or the appliance itself. Look for 220V or higher. It can auto switch to whichever power

Profile picture of Donna

Donna

You do not need a converter. Your plug for your iPad/phone/camera should have a converter built in.

Profile picture of Wendy

Wendy

Totally depends on what electronic item she is converting. Some cameras don't. Some phones don't. Curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers don't.

Profile picture of Cindy

Wendy not sure about the flat irons. My friend's flat iron eventually heated up so much it actually burned her hair off. Then it died, so I've always wondered if it was the current.

Profile picture of Wendy

Wendy

Cindy you bet it was. I bought one off the buy and sell the actually came from Italy. I had absolutely no problems with it at all while I was there. Worked great.
A friend of mine had hers burn up in either England or the UE.

iPhone plugs are 120 volt not 220 and also have rectangular plugs and therefore won't work in certain countries.

Profile picture of Damian

Damian

My iPhone charger (came with a 7) accepts 100 to 240V AC. So does the charger that came with my iPad Mini. You just need an adapter for the plug configuration of the country you will use it in.

Profile picture of Wendy

Wendy

Damian my iPhone 6 is the same. Just came back from Italy and only needed the adaptor and not the converter.

If you only need a usb charger port i suggest just buy one when you arrive. 10 euros or less any train station or airport should have them

Using Electronics in Europe: Do You Need a Converter?

When traveling to Europe, one of the common concerns for many tourists is whether their electronic devices will work with the different voltage and plug types used in European countries. The short answer is: it depends.

Understanding Voltage and Plug Types

In Europe, the standard voltage is 220-240 volts, which is higher than the 110-120 volts used in the United States and other countries. This means that if you plug in a device that is only rated for 110-120 volts, it could potentially get damaged or not work properly.

Additionally, European countries use different plug types than those used in the US. The most common plug type in Europe is the Type C plug, also known as the Europlug. This plug has two round pins and is used in most European countries.

Do You Need a Converter?

Whether or not you need a converter depends on the voltage and plug type of your electronic devices. Most modern electronics, such as laptops, smartphones, and cameras, are dual voltage and can work with both 110-120 volts and 220-240 volts. You can check the label on your device or its power adapter to see if it is dual voltage.

If your device is dual voltage, you will only need a plug adapter to convert the US plug type to the European plug type. Plug adapters are inexpensive and can be easily found online or at electronics stores.

However, if your device is not dual voltage, you will need a voltage converter in addition to a plug adapter. Voltage converters can be more expensive and bulkier than plug adapters, so it's important to check if your devices are dual voltage before traveling to Europe.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whether or not you need a converter to use your electronics in Europe depends on the voltage and plug type of your devices. Most modern electronics are dual voltage and only require a plug adapter, but it's always best to check the label on your devices to be sure.

Happy travels!
