we bought ours in feb for dec $670 2018 Vancouver return - china air - and yes we love china air fab cheap and on time

Go with Eva and Taipei. We lived over there and Eva was the most value along with AC to HK. My cousin had a layover in Taipei and she loved it. December flights won’t go down only up.
PAL through Manila use to have a gate upgrade for like 500 USD to business and I did that a few time.
Sarah
Excellent! Thanks for the head's up
Robin
Have heard great things about Eva air so I would jump on the deal. Love ANA but we went on a screaming deal that will probably never happen again ( $600 cdn round trip Hong Kong via Tokyo - no stopover and a few years ago) .
Sarah
That sounds amazing!
Robin
Look at Asia air to hop to Japan from Taipei. If you are doing a lot of Asia short haul travel Asia air is great!
Robin
It’s airasia- sorry,
Sarah
Noted. Thank you for the tips!!

Always book a flight 6 months before you go and on a Tuesday is what I’ve heard
Melissa

We flew premium economy on Eva Air to BKK last fall and it was lovely. We paid about $1500 each which I believe is a very good price, so $1700 in December is probably a good deal. Generally, I find if you wait, the price tends to go up. We didn’t stay over in Taipei but several people that have told me it’s great.
Julia
super expensive I think - travelled to bkk 3 times in the last 4 years never paid more than 800 per person tax included- cheapest this time $ 670 including taxes in for this Dec
Sarah
$1700 for premium economy. $1K for reg economy. Just to clarify. I wouldn't pay $1700 for reg economy either
Sarah
Thanks everyone! We erred on the side of caution (and moving forward with the planning!) and booked the flight!
Justin
China Airlines has some good prices right now and are just as good as EVA. TPE is a great airport. Just bought my ticket

Booking Flights to Asia for December Holidays: Weighing Your Options
Planning a trip to Asia during the peak holiday season can be tricky, especially when it comes to finding affordable flights. With airlines offering enticing deals and different routing options, it's essential to weigh your priorities and make an informed decision.
The Eva Air Deal
The Eva Air deal you mentioned, offering $1,000 for regular economy and $1,700 for premium economy to Bangkok (BKK), seems like an incredible bargain. Taipei, the layover destination, is indeed an amazing city with a rich culture, delicious street food, and plenty of attractions to explore. If your primary focus is to visit Bangkok and experience Thailand, this deal might be worth considering.
The Tokyo Route
However, if your heart is set on visiting Tokyo and spending a few days there, the flights starting at $2,600 might be a significant investment. Tokyo is a captivating city with a unique blend of tradition and modernity, and it's understandable to want to experience it on your way to Bangkok.
Potential Price Drops
When it comes to flight prices, it's always a gamble whether they will drop or not. Airlines use complex algorithms and various factors, such as demand and competition, to determine their pricing. While there's a possibility that the prices for the Tokyo route might decrease closer to the travel dates, there's no guarantee.
Making the Decision
Ultimately, the decision comes down to your priorities and budget. If you're primarily focused on Bangkok and open to exploring Taipei as a bonus, the Eva Air deal seems like an excellent option. However, if experiencing Tokyo is a must-do for you, it might be worth considering the higher-priced flights.
One potential compromise could be to book the Eva Air deal for your Bangkok trip and plan a separate, dedicated trip to Tokyo in the future when prices are more favorable. This way, you can fully immerse yourself in both destinations without feeling rushed or compromising your experience.
No matter which option you choose, remember that the journey itself is a significant part of the adventure. Embrace the excitement of exploring new places, and make the most of your experiences, whether in Bangkok, Taipei, or Tokyo.

Anyone have advice on when to book flights to Asia (BKK specifically) for travel over December holidays? Eva Air is having an amazing deal right now ($1K reg economy & 1700 premium economy), but had my heart set on flying through Tokyo and spending a few days there. Those flights start at $2600 though and I just don't know if they'll go down and if they do, by how much.
Should I just accept Taipei (which I've heard is awesome!) or hold out hope for cheaper flights via Tokyo?
