We went with a local Nairobi company that helped me plan a 34 day trip. Very good. If you’d like to know pm me. This was for Kenya Tanzania and Rwanda not South Africa

We went with explorer Kenya . They were very good and great prices . You can pick from a cheap tent safari to a luxury camp and everything in between! I also have an AMAZING contact if you are going to stay in Nairobi at all. Nairobi is a great town to stay a couple days in before you head out for your safari - but you really don’t want to do it without a local with you. He will pick you up at airport and take you to your hotel and be there waiting for you in the morning to take you to see the sights you pick. If you want his contact info pm me

Little Elephant Camp in Uganda.

First decide where in Africa.
Traditional safari destinations Tanzania and Kenya in East Africa are lovely and expensive. Self drive not recommended.
Consider also the Okavango Delta and Chobe Natl Park in Botswana for about 2/3 of the price of East Africa- can also self drive with or without camping (camp to reduce cost. )
Then consider Namibia which is stunning at half the price of East Africa and if you want great for self drive with or without camping.
Lastly think about Kruger Park in South Africa. You can self drive with car rental half of cost of Botswana or Namibia. You can stay in SanPark accommodation at various levels of comfort and price. There are concessions with lovely lodges next door if you want to combo them.
Have fun! (I leave for 4 months on a Friday visiting all of these).
