Dubrovnik, Split, Trogir, Rovinj, Pula and then you have so many beautiful islands like Hvar, Korcula, Pag etc. Also, you should go to Plitvice Lake National Park and many more other beautiful cities....

Thank you so much. Any place you would recommend to stay for a week? Relaxed pace with nice beaches and restaurants ?

No problem
Makarska riviera is one of my favourites, but the best beaches are on the islands.

If you're looking for "off the beaten path" you're going to need a car.

would you have any recommendations with a car

Sno Europcar has good cheap options, but it will be cheapest if you pickup/return to same place. Also get the smallest car possible it will make parking/navigating European narrow roads way easier!

With two weeks I would forego plitvice lakes and stay on the coast and islands. Start in rovinj and work your way down to Dubrovnik. We spent a week in korcula but had a month overall.

Keddy What do you get to see there? I am considering take a cruise that stops at Kotor.

Teresa I'm not sure how it all works with the cruise and how much land time you get, but you will be anchored in the small inlet of Kotor which is surrounded by beautiful tall mountains. It has a charming walled old town that dates back over a thousand years, and plenty of awesome cheap casual restaurants. Excellent local meats and cheeses. There's a great hike up the mountains with an incredible view (not too difficult) and after going up the mountain, you can climb down the ancient fortress above the old town. So much history and stunning scenery! We met some really kind locals too. If you can venture a little further than Kotor, the town of Perast (20 min shuttle away) has 2 beautiful man-made islands with old churches on them, beautiful beachfront restaurants and an interesting museum. It's very small but quite pretty. And a little further from Kotor (about 30 min bus) is Budva, another really cheap beach town with a bit of a party vibe. Close to Budva is Sveti Stefan (10 min drive) which is definitely worth seeing too!
I thought everywhere we went was charming, beautiful, and had great value. I'd definitely go back.
