Question:
Humans say...

Many people know English. French is also very commonly spoken
Jill
I would say more people speak French than English. We went in February a few years ago and it was also quite cold. Amazing country, would definitely go back!
Todd
Sorry, yeah, that's what I meant... you can get by with English but if you know French you'll have no problems at all
Paul
I agree with Todd 100%, I was there in April. if you need any advice, just PM me.

I use hotwire .com to find hotels in rabat and Casablanca this summer. There's one thing that annoys me about morocco taxi drivers sucks.

If you are looking for Moroccan experience, stay at a Riad. It is a B & B inside the main city.

Has anyone ever been to Marrakesh in Morocco? I love the hotels there as they have the authentic look I'm looking for being in Morocco. Can anyone tell me about this city? Paul
Andrew
Spent 11 days there in august. But stayed in a hostel. There lots of hotels and some really expensive ones just outside the old Merida. Depends on when your going it gets really hot there. They gives Spanish siesta a whole different meaning.
Sharron
We were there for a week or so in spring with a guide(fortunately) through Intredip Travel. Positive opinion in general. The Riad we stayed at is inside the Medina.

How was the quality of your desert tour with intripid. The dinner the hotel and the transport. Also what was the cost of the tour. Was it worth the cost.
Sharron
Can't actually give you a breakdown as we used them for a month plus through Portugal & Morocco. We did a camp stay in desert and road the canals. We were a group of 8 so could customize tour. You may be able to join a group that is booked. Very grad we were with a group & guide.
Andrew
I've done the Sahara tour in morocco. But booked it at Marrakesh for 80€. Overall the tour was good but the camp and the food was not great. I could not even eat the food at the camp. Was worried that I'll get sick from it.
Sharron
Food was fine for us. Don't know that I would do it again but off bucket list. You actually can book individual parts with tour company. Guides are also available through Riads or hotels.

I heard of the Madina. What about the people and language Barrier in Marrakesh?

Travel Blog: Morocco Deals and Language
If you're planning a trip to Morocco in January or February, you might be able to score some great deals on hotels and flights. These months fall within the country's shoulder season, which means fewer tourists and lower prices.
According to travel experts, you can find discounted rates on accommodations and airfare during this period. However, it's important to note that the weather in Morocco can be quite cool and rainy, especially in the northern regions, during these months.
As for English proficiency, while Arabic and French are the primary languages spoken in Morocco, you'll find that many locals in major cities like Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Fez have at least a basic understanding of English, especially those working in the tourism industry.
However, it's always a good idea to learn a few basic phrases in Arabic or French to show respect for the local culture and make your travels smoother. Additionally, carrying a phrasebook or downloading a translation app can be incredibly helpful when navigating unfamiliar situations.
Overall, if you're willing to brave the cooler weather, January and February can be excellent months to visit Morocco and take advantage of lower prices. Just be prepared to communicate with a mix of English, Arabic, and French, and you'll be sure to have an enriching and memorable experience in this fascinating country.
