I stayed at Bandara Resort & Spa (approx $125/night CAD, tax included) and Ploen Chaweng Koh Samui (approx $50/night CAD, tax included) in November. They were both nice but preferred Bandara. It was a short walk to Fisherman's Village and the night market there.

We stayed at the Waterfront Hotel bungalows . Nice place,on the ocean nice pool. it was 83.00 a night. and walking distance to all the bars and resturants in Fisherman village.They pick you up at the airport and give you a short tour.Breakfast by the pool.

You can get some really nice places for that price.
Last time I went I paid $98 for 4 nights and I was in a reasonably nice, clean, basic hotel.
Chaweng beach is where you want to be.
Rent scooters while you're there.

We stayed at OZO ans it was new and airy and simply amazing. Perfect location too-walking distance from the action but still good diatance so you can get some peace ans quiet! We loves it! http://m.ozohotels.com/chaweng-samui/

Also what area is best to stay in? We are looking for a place near lots of good food, bars and the beach.
