Have you considered Isla Mujeres? It's a short ferry ride away and there are lots of airbnb rentals all over the island. Not sure what kind of holiday you are looking for but Cancun is just a huge city like any other huge city...
Cathy
Yes, open to all options like that. Isla Mujeres, peurto morales etc. Any specific house, hotel, B&B to recommend?
Laura
We stayed at Villa Kiin. It is in Playa Norte. It was great when we were there, not sure what it's like now.
Marie
Isla Mujeres anywhere around Playa Norte. My most favorite place in the world

We spent 10 days on Isla Mujeres - first on Playa Norte (gorgeous) at Xechel hotel then at a small place called La Jolla which was an 8 room pension type place. Very reasonable, great pool and lovely breakfast. Close to a smallish beach that you could swim at. Its worth to note that Isla has some fab restaurants and cafes, but the shops are about 5x more expensive than Puerto. While in Isla we snorkelled at MUSA which was awesome and loved the vibe of the island. However we also did a 36 hour jaunt to Cozumel, stayed the night and then did Tulum and a Cenote which was gorgeous and inexpensive (not the big disneyland type of thing) and made me want to explore other ruins in the area and coast alone there. Perhaps a week on each would suit you best?
Cathy
Thank you for this great advice.

Forget staying in Cancun. Love Isla. Cozumel and Playa. Stay away from all inclusive for a real experience. Enjoy

Finding the Perfect Accommodation in Cancun
Congratulations on booking your flights to Cancun! Now it's time to find the perfect place to stay during your week or two in this vibrant Mexican paradise. Cancun offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxurious all-inclusive resorts to cozy apartments and condos, catering to every taste and budget.
Beachfront Resorts
If you're looking for a truly luxurious and hassle-free vacation experience, consider staying at one of Cancun's world-renowned beachfront resorts. These resorts offer breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, along with top-notch amenities like multiple pools, restaurants, bars, and entertainment options. Popular choices include:
- Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun Resort & Spa
- Hyatt Ziva Cancun
- Paradisus Cancun
- Ritz-Carlton Cancun
Vacation Rentals
If you prefer more space and privacy, or if you're traveling with a larger group, consider renting a condo or apartment in Cancun. This option allows you to enjoy the comforts of a home away from home while still being close to the action. Popular areas for vacation rentals include the Hotel Zone, downtown Cancun, and Punta Cancun.
Websites like Airbnb, VRBO, and HomeAway offer a wide range of vacation rental options, from cozy studios to spacious multi-bedroom condos with private pools and ocean views.
Off-the-Beaten-Path Gems
If you're looking for a more authentic and budget-friendly experience, consider staying in one of the smaller beach towns near Cancun, such as Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen. These charming destinations offer a glimpse into the real Mexico, with local markets, restaurants, and a slower pace of life.
Regardless of where you choose to stay, make sure to book your accommodation well in advance, especially if you're traveling during peak season (December to April). Cancun is a popular destination, and availability can be limited during high season.
Enjoy your time in Cancun, and don't forget to explore the amazing beaches, cenotes, Mayan ruins, and vibrant nightlife that this incredible region has to offer!

We have booked flights to Cancun later this month, but not accomodation yet. Any suggestions for places in the area to rent for a week or two - hotels, apartments, condos etc.
