How many days? Depending how you like to spend when travelling, we go for the most economic ways to eat and play possible (except for the occasional nice dinner out). Take into account all the places you're staying am of you'll have fridges, and the exchange rate. If it's for 2-3 weeks I'd say 3000 cnd for two people accounting for food, drinks, shopping, and tours/activities
Marina
Athens - 3 days
Santorini - 4 days
Rome - 3 days
Florence - 3 days
Cinque Terre - 3 days
Venice - 3 days
Nice - 4 days
Paris - 3 days
London - 3 days
Thanks! Yes, 1500 each for spending sounds reasonable.
Jennifer
I'd say $3000 is a pretty low estimate for a month of travel. We were close to $3000 for two for three week and we were buying groceries and cooking in our apartment. If you plan to eat out, drink and do tours, you're probably closer to $3000 per person
Jen
Yes agreed. Personally we usually do 3 weeks in Europe, and that is usually 2-3 countries. We spend about 6000 for everything. It really depends how extravagant for yours you want to do. Eating can be cheap if you do most of your own preparation. I hope you guys have a great trip though!
Jen
And by everything ^^ I mean flights and accommodation.
Linda
Are you purchasing tours in any of these Cities?
Marina
We are thinking of just doing Hop on Hop Off tours as I've been to most of these cities before and know most of the spots to see
Linda
I woulduggest a proper tour in Rome. You need to be able to get into the Vatican in a timely manner. Trevi fountain is really in a weird location. The traffic is tough, never saw bus tours. I booked with a company that took us to all of the sites avoiding the lines at the colosseum etc.
Mae
Hop on hop off in London is awesome!
Amber
Walking tours are better there are many "pay what you think the tour is worth" types and these tour guides are for the most part locals.
As for Athens be prepared for potential strikes that may occur that may alter plans.
Sylvia
I would also suggest doing research and making a list of your must see places in order of priority so you don't miss something you really want to see or do.
Jen
This! You have such a short time in each place.
Sylvia
Hop on Hop off buses in the various cities are also great value for your money

Look at City Cards that will give you x-day (3, 5, etc) transit and free or discounts to museums/attractions

I am in London right now. Check out the London Pass. It includes many things, even an Oyster card for public transport. Definitely go to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Look into the Omnia card for Rome also

Cinque Terre is soooo gorgeous!!! They have hiking trails with lemon trees. Also try a pizza made with pesto. It's locally made there and DELICIOUS. David is amazing in Florence and so is the gelato and the cathedral. When I was there in September, it was wine festival and there were musicians going up and down the streets with people following them and singing. It was like a movie. It's my favourite city. I loved Rome for all of the sites, but found the locals take advantage of tourists (some restaurants would give us different more expensive menus than the locals and taxi cabs would drive us in circles to increase the meter). I hope that's not your experience. If you have time though, book a tour for the Vatican. The lineup is hundreds of people long and a tour lets you get in right away with a guide. It's stunning. Have fun!!!!
Sylvia
In London get an Oyster card and use the tube for travel, very easy to navigate and less expensive than taxi's. Try to stay out of central London and take the tube in. Central London is expensive but the burroughs are much cheaper and many have hotels, restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance of tube stations
Linda
Buy a pass for the water taxis in Venice. We got it at the airport and included the trip from the airport into Venice. We bought a three day pass. Travelled to Murano, and Burano using this pass as well as all around Venice. Godsend. Venice is walkable but many steps. Each of the bridges is stepped. Gets to calves and gluten after awhile.

I would budget at least $100 per person per day for food, admissions, incidentals. This is in addition to hotels. One of the best bargains going is taking the vaporetto water bus up and down the Grand Canal at sunset. It is only a couple euros and the views are magical.
Linda
Florence is walkable. No tour really required. Save your money for the leather market. David statue was ok. Not sure it was worth the cost to get in.
Sylvia
We did Rome Florence and Venice. There is a perfect replica of David on the square. Do not pay to see it. Be careful of the leather markets making sure it is not a fake. You will love it. It was the trip of a lifetime. definitely save money for the food. You will not be disappointed
Luisa
The Real David is worth every Pennie!
Patti
I'd also say at least 100 euros a day per person, more if you plan on eating and drinking in restaurants, taking taxis, tours.
Linda
Athens we got a driver guide at the port who took us everywhere for the day.
Dianna
Can I get more information. Really interested in Italy!

Realistic Travel Budget for European Cities
If you are planning a summer trip to Europe and have already taken care of your flights, train passes, and accommodation, you may be wondering how much spending money you will need for food, taxis, and activities. Here is a breakdown of a realistic travel budget for the cities you will be visiting:
Greece
- Athens: €50 per day for food, €20 for taxis, and €30 for activities
- Santorini: €60 per day for food, €25 for taxis, and €40 for activities
Italy
- Rome: €60 per day for food, €20 for taxis, and €40 for activities
- Florence: €55 per day for food, €15 for taxis, and €35 for activities
- Venice: €65 per day for food, €25 for taxis, and €45 for activities
- Cinque Terre: €50 per day for food, €20 for taxis, and €30 for activities
France
- Nice: €55 per day for food, €20 for taxis, and €35 for activities
- Paris: €70 per day for food, €30 for taxis, and €50 for activities
England
- London: €75 per day for food, €35 for taxis, and €55 for activities
These estimates are based on average prices for meals, transportation, and activities in each city. Keep in mind that prices may vary depending on where you choose to eat or what activities you decide to do. It's always a good idea to have a little extra money set aside for unexpected expenses.
Enjoy your trip to Europe!
