Find a running room and get fitted for the right shoe for you. Let them know what the purpose is for your shoe (walking on cement and uneven paths) and they will check your walk and pair you with the right shoe. You can ask everyone here but honestly we all do and have different walks than you.

If you me buying new shoes get them now so you can break them in for your trip. Never buy new shoes to take on a trip

Don’t buy new shoes for your trip!! Wear comfortable running shoes; bring comfortable sandals as a 2nd pair. No flip flops or crocks.
My husband made the mistake of buying new shoes for the trip to London. He really wasn’t prepared for that much walking and often cobblestones.

Go to Sole Experience in Whyte Ave and try on some Hoka Bondi shoes (or similar Hoka styles). They are like walking on clouds. You will not regret it.
As someone who was on their feet most all day, these were a game changer.

Definetly Hoka Bondi! My son is a long distance runner and recommended them to me as a nurse working 12hr shifts. Nothing compares to them!

Rob I totally agree. I have an inside and outside pair I wear with my custom orthotics. I’ve tried but honestly can’t wear any other type of shoes.

We bought Vessi shoes online. They are waterproof and great for cobblestones. We wore them almost exclusively for a month while in Europe.

This may be unpopular, but I wore the low ankle converse for my Europe trip and loved them. They were new, and I was putting on 25 k steps per day and my feet never hurt or blistered once. Handled the cobblestone very well.

Lululemon has super comfortable running shoes. And I didn’t have to break them in!

I find the staff at the Running room very knowledgeable. If you explain you want a walking shoe. I had great service their, the young man I had fit me to the shoe had me walk around in them then relaced them to fit my walk and foot shape. They are the best fitting shoes I own. I lace all my shoes the way he laced them. I own a variety of brands, price and comfort level. Try them on and work what’s best for your foot. The smaller independent shoe stores have good quality shoes.

I recomment Vessi shoes. They are great; very comfortable yet waterproof as well.

Love my Lululemon Blissfeel and Beyondfeel running shoes. The beyond feel has a thicker, cushier sole but both have been comfortable for long periods of walking and standing with no break in period at all. The beyondfeel I had to size down half a size from what I bought in the blissfeel.

The funniest thing I found when prepping for Orlando for 10 days in September was almost all of the suggestions I took from others were shows I either already had that I did not find comfortable enough for all day walking or I bought them after the suggestion and they did NOT work for me.
I have bought Hokas and Chacos, and Oofos and Vessis. The chacos I returned…..the Hokas I wore FOUR times and I get shin splints every single time so $200 down the drain as I won’t wear them anymore.
I ended up switching off between a pair of reeboks I already had on hand and the Vessis which are also waterproof…..and then the Oofos when I wanted to wear sandals.
So everyone is so different, people swear by the Hokas and I just can’t stand them…..anybody wanna buy them? lol
I am taking the Vessis on my trip to London in 3 weeks to wear again and I went on and on about them so my hubby got a pair for the trip too

I love non running shoe sketchers for casual walking, but also always take actual runners too. Comfort is top priority. No one will comment in your shoes ans you'll be so much more comfy! This is was I do when I go to new york and we walk 20 000+ steps a day.

anything that your insoles fit, like scetchers. Not Costco ones. Go to the outlet store in Capilano Mall.

Terry Ive been wearing the Costco Sketchers around Europe for the past month. Walking all day at least 9 kms on mostly cobblestones and hundreds of stairs with no problems. I’m also 74 years old so if anyone would have issues it should be me.

There's a store downtown called the walk shoppe. They do custom orthotics but they also carry a bunch of great walking shoes that are also cute. https://customorthopedic.ca/

Grisport.
They are featured at Costco a few times a year or online.
I wore their waterproof pull on boots for two weeks in Europe last year and their walking shoes for two weeks in Hawaii this year. 20k steps daily esp in Europe. Lots of hiking.
I wear them both for work and they are so comfy.

Sketchers. I wore them all over NYC for a week as well as 2 weeks in France. Feet felt fantastic. We walk 20,000- 30,000 steps a day.

In addition to new shoes - some long walks before you go. I don't walk that much at home, and after a couple of days my shins and hips are killing me unless I "train" for a few weeks first. For the shoes? Everyone's feet are so different that the answer is - just find a pair that fits you well.

I bought these in Europe (had tried them on at home) because the shoes I brought were giving me sore feet and lower back. A little pricey but they’ve been incredibly comfortable for the last 5 weeks walking all over in Greece! Happy travels!
