Check when Easter is and decide if you want to be in places then or not - some are closed and there are more people around.

We went in mid July and it was almost unbearable! Go before then lol

We went beginning of April last year on a cruise and the weather was a bit windy but mild...coat some days. And yes be sure not to go certain places on certain days around Easter...went to Coliseum on Easter Monday...stupid crazy! (But that's when the boat stopped!)
Christin

That ms everyone! I'll door check when. Easter is this year but sounds like May might be best! I don't want to go in the height of Summer when all the busy crowds and the heat is at its worst. I like warm days when you need a light jacket at the most.
Patricia
May is perfect for anywhere in Europe IMHO
Van
Went in May and the weather was beautiful! (From North to south) most days floated around 25*C had a couple days reaching 32*C and one day of heavy rain in Venice (which is typical)

We went in May and it was PERFECT. One day of rain but it didn't stop us from exploring
Tina

The Best Time to Visit Italy: April/May Exploration
Italy, a country renowned for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and mouthwatering cuisine, is a dream destination for many travelers. If you're planning a trip to this Mediterranean gem, the months of April and May can be an ideal time to visit. Here's what you can expect during these spring months.
Weather in Italy During April/May
Spring is a delightful season to explore Italy, as the weather is generally mild and pleasant. In April and May, you can expect temperatures to range from the mid-60s to the mid-70s Fahrenheit (18°C to 24°C) throughout most of the country.
The northern regions, including cities like Milan and Venice, may experience slightly cooler temperatures, while the southern areas, such as Rome and the Amalfi Coast, tend to be a bit warmer. This is the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities without the scorching heat of summer.
Advantages of Visiting Italy in April/May
- Fewer Crowds: One of the biggest advantages of visiting Italy during this period is the smaller crowds compared to the peak summer months. This means you can explore popular attractions like the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Uffizi Gallery with more space and fewer lines.
- Comfortable Weather: The mild spring temperatures make it enjoyable to stroll through picturesque cities, explore ancient ruins, and spend time outdoors without feeling too hot or too cold.
- Lower Prices: Accommodation, flights, and even some attractions may offer lower rates during the shoulder season, making your trip more budget-friendly.
- Blooming Landscapes: Spring is a beautiful time to witness the natural beauty of Italy, as flowers are in bloom, and the countryside is lush and green.
Potential Drawbacks
While April and May offer many advantages, there are a few potential drawbacks to consider:
- Some tourist facilities, such as restaurants or hotels in smaller towns, may still be closed or operating on limited hours during the early spring months.
- Weather can be unpredictable, with occasional rain showers, especially in the northern regions.
- Certain events or festivals may not take place during this time, limiting cultural experiences.
Overall, April and May are excellent months to visit Italy, offering a perfect balance of comfortable weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices. Just be prepared for the possibility of occasional rain showers and some facilities operating on reduced schedules.
No matter when you decide to go, Italy is sure to enchant you with its captivating history, breathtaking landscapes, and unparalleled culinary delights. Buon viaggio!
