John
Bonnie implants in Lethbridge from DR.Murray is $4,000 in Mexico is $ 1800 canadian....my wife and I have been to Puerto Vallarta and have had crowns ,root canals and implants done. it been 5 years and no problems

Implants are a funny thing not sure I would get them done in Mexico as if you have an issues you will not be covered here. I know of a few people that have them and including my husband and he has been in the Process of getting one for over a year. It’s not as simple as just a weekend appointment it takes months even up to a year from our experience
T
Bev many plans do cover out of country work, @GlobalHealthShift can help with that as well.
Bev
Yes they might cover them but if you have to keep flying back if you have issues that will be out of pocket for you. And implants can’t be done in a week or a mouth with my husbands they had to do bone grafting and multiple appointments over the last year .
Bev
And it’s been over a year of healing now he is ready for the Tooth to me put on .
Kam
Prepare a longer medical vacation, its all good. There are clinics can plan everything for you. Ask about mx insurance policy.
Sylvia
Kam what is MX insurance policy? Is this something you buy in YYC? What is the cost approx?
Kam
Sylvia Wetherup No its. Something that local can help you can buy incase of hospital stays. Ask a medical vacation planner.
Melina
Have you considered Costa Rica for your dental work? I have rental properties in CR and have hosted guests who have come solely for dental work. We have a fabulous dentist in our town. Message me if you’d like to chat about it.
Elisa

Elisa
My husband needs 4 implants, and the dentist here in Calgary is asking for $16,000.
T
Elisa do you have any coverage?
Elisa
A claim was already submitted, came back as 0% coverage.
Elisa
I guess it would of been partly covered if there was an extraction before implant but he had 4 teeth extracted a number of years ago in Italy.
Trang
Elisa not Cancun but I got 2 implant done in 2 different time when we went back to vietnam and took only 2 weeks for my dentist from A to Z and I have no issues after that, has been 2 years and I just took an Xray this summer when we were back and no issue at all. And it cost me only 1.050$ CA for the whole process which included refill, remove broken tooth and implant. My dentist in vietnam that I have been follow for over 20 years and he was graduate and still go to USA for training from time to time.
Lindsay
Please please do your research. This is a surgery and the number one reasons implants fail is because of improper sterilization. The other thing to consider is after the surgery and the implant is placed it takes at least 3 months for the bone to integrate with the titanium post. If you put a crown on too soon and apply any force to that bone before healing is done it will fail. And now it will cost more to fix it here. I have seen so so many mexican failed implants it really makes me nervous.
Elisa
Lindsay thanks! I will keep that in mind.
Lindsay
My dentist here that i work for does implants. We do free consults. He would be less than 16g for the work. If you wanted to explore more locally. Even having the implants placed in Canada and having the crowns done in Mexico would be a decent option. I'm at Varsity Family dental Centre if you are interested!!
Bev
Elisa and if he had his teeth pull along time a go make sure he has bone X-rays fine as he may need bone put in first .
Kanan
Lindsay hiw much would be a crown cost? Upper left 12? Root canal done already
Lindsay
Crowns are roughly 1300.
Marylke
Ive gotten my whole mouth done and wasn’t that much. Go to dr Albert Luis at Canada dental place downtown. He’s amazing and really reasonable pricing
Julie
Marylke how much is reasonable
Marylke
Julie I got a full teeth removal, sinuous lift, bone graft and 9 implants for $15,000 teeth not included tho!
My hubby got 1 implant and they quoted him 1200 with tooth Usually 1 implant with a tooth costs 3,000-4,000
Mark
Have you considered BC? Its generally cheaper there and a whole easier than traveling down south. Plus, if it doesn't work out, it quick trip back there.
Elisa
Mark good point!
Leah
Check out Jen with cosmetic travel solutions. They do dental.

Funny how we don’t drink the water in most of these countries, but we will let them do invasive dental work
Lindsay
not just dental work this is surgery!!
Lindsay
This was done in Mexico!! Perforated sinuses requiring surgery back home, permanent nerve damage and those are not dental grade screws. They are essentially hardware screws. This was an xray taken here in Calgary on an emergency visit.
Carrie
Lindsay we see it all the time! You could build a deck with those screws!
Debra
You would be Crazy to do this...
Elisa
Debra thanks
Debra
Elisa I have run into people who have done this in Mexico and oh my God they regretted it big-time it's so dangerous don't do it
Erin
Debra not crazy. Just do your research. For those that need and can’t afford 20,000 ... spending 6,000 is a great alternative!
Debra
Erin And the infection rate is horrendous.. Do your research..
Erin
Debra I have. I’ve had several done. You just need to find a reputable dentist.
Debra
Erin Well Good Luck...I hope all goes well for you
Olya
Debra my husband done his dentures done in Mexico, instead of paying $60000 he paid $8000. It was 10 years ago, no problems since then.
Debra
Olya Olya Well I'm very happy for him
Olya
Debra thanks. I am just saying that there are good examples as well as bad ones I guess
Paule
exactly.. I live for 4 years in Honduras and went to the dentist there for my braces and never had any problems! They are just like us and if you go to a more expensive dentist over there (still less than here) they are often super equipped and have done all their studies in the USA.
Erin
I’ve had several done in PV. I can recommend a great dentist practice there.
Erin

Here’s where we’ve been many times. They did 3 implants for me. Kirk is great. He’s actually from BC and moved there after falling in love while vacationing. You can check out the reviews ... fly into PV. You do need to plan 2 trips ... but worth it to save money. And vacation same time.
Jessica
Meagan Elizabeth
Renee
Do your research. I had an implant done in Mexico with no issues.
Terry
Good and bad in both countries. Agreed. Do your research. Mexican dental work is so good in some places vacation dentistry has become an institution. But again, do your research.
Sally
We have bad ones here as well !
Jessica
I have a friend that did it and is super happy with the results. I’m not sure where in Mexico though.

Kathryn I don't know of any in Cancun but there are great medical services in Mexico City
Bev
It’s not that the dentist are not great it’s just with Implants so much can go wrong and it’s not just a one day appointment it takes months and if you have any complications a lot of dentist her won’t take you and if they do they will charge you through the roof
Cherie

Infection is a huge risk and training is very costly.
I would want a place that is inspected by a trusted entity and credentials equal to North American standards. Very risky and no follow up care once you leave.
The costs are so high here, this route is tempting.
Old adage....”you get what you pay for” Be very careful.
Marie
Janet Mexican dentists are often trained at the same schools or equivalent schools as dentists in North America. As a matter of fact, there are Canadian and American dentists working in Mexico. There are also organizations and government agencies in Mexico that protect consumer rights. I would recommend that the OP go through a trusted agency and do some research on the internet and I am very confident that they will great dental care in Mexico.
Bev
Marie Amaro It’s not that the dentist are not great it’s just with Implants so much can go wrong and it’s not just a one day appointment it takes months and if you have any complications a lot of dentist her won’t take you and if they do they will charge you through the roof
Marie
Bev yes I read your comment and you're right. Hopefully the OP has enough time to spend in Mexico to enjoy the beautiful beaches and culture, get their dental work done and still save a ton of money.
Marcus
Uh, Mexico is IN North America...
Bev
Marie Amaro it takes a lot longer than a few weeks to do implants
Marie
Bev hopefully the OP can come down for longer then and STILL save thousands of dollars! Who wouldn't want to do it, especially if they have the time!
Also my godfather got his implants done pretty quickly in Mexico. My father got his done in Canada and cost him almost 10k. With 10k you can stay in Mexico all winter!
Janet
Marcus
. My bad.
Marcus
Janet No worries! Just a geographic reminder!
Lindsay
Marie Amaro it would be 3 months they would need to stay or travel a few times
Marie
Lindsay thats a long time! Longer than any service I have heard of in Mexico or Canada. Oh well. Maybe for a retiree, or a remote worker? Somebody with a flexible schedule who can travel a lot? Luckily there are amazing deals to Mexico these days. And the weather beats Calgary weather any day!
Chris
Same here ! Implants in Bucerious and 1/4 of the price ! 5 years ago lots of work and sooo happy
