Maltaaaaa!
Dana
Can't really go wrong with either Lisbon or Barcelona. Both have great beaches and cool city sights to see. Both cities have very affordable Air BnBs and food at the non-touristy restaurants is cheap and delicious!
Mike
Dana Lisbon is much cheaper. Also it blew away Barcelona for me

Best Destination for a Week in July
After visiting London, England, and before heading back to Vancouver, you have a week to spare and are looking for a hot destination with good beaches, affordability, and not too crowded but not too remote either. The options you are considering are Crete, Corfu, Sicily, Malta, Spain, and Portugal. Let's break down each destination to help you make the best choice:
Crete
Crete is the largest Greek island and offers a mix of beautiful beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture. It is a popular tourist destination but can still offer secluded spots. The weather in July is hot, and the prices are generally affordable.
Corfu
Corfu is another Greek island known for its stunning beaches and lush greenery. It is less crowded than some other Greek islands and offers a mix of relaxation and exploration. Prices can vary but are generally reasonable.
Sicily
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and offers a mix of history, culture, and beautiful beaches. It can get busy in July, but there are still quieter spots to explore. Prices can be affordable, especially if you avoid the main tourist areas.
Malta
Malta is a small island nation known for its crystal-clear waters and ancient history. It is less crowded than some other Mediterranean destinations and offers a mix of relaxation and sightseeing. Prices in Malta can be reasonable, especially if you stay outside the main tourist areas.
Spain
Spain offers a variety of beach destinations, from the lively beaches of Costa del Sol to the quieter beaches of Costa Brava. Prices in Spain can vary depending on the region, but overall, it is a relatively affordable destination. July can be a busy month, especially in popular tourist spots.
Portugal
Portugal is known for its stunning coastline, charming cities, and delicious food. The Algarve region is particularly popular for its beautiful beaches. Prices in Portugal can be affordable, especially outside the peak tourist season. July is a busy month, but you can still find quieter spots.
Conclusion
Considering your preferences for a hot destination with good beaches, affordability, and not too crowded, but not too remote either, Crete, Corfu, and Malta seem to be the best options. These destinations offer a mix of relaxation, culture, and affordability, with the potential for quieter spots away from the crowds.
Ultimately, the best pick for you will depend on your specific preferences and interests. Do some research on each destination to see which one aligns best with what you are looking for in a week-long getaway in July.
