Santiago de Cuba is great. Cecelia's Casa Particular is great. 2 blocks from town center square. Guardalavaca is nice, lots of decent beaches, Casa Amigos is very nice right in the heart.

Thank you Ernie.

If you fly in to Holquin the best taxi is a friend of a friend Alexander cell 53 53140916 he speaks good English and is a professor at the local university. He will be happy to pick you up and drive you to and from Guardalavaca. You have to bus it to Santiago. Good luck. Please say hi to all of them if you use them.

Santiago De Cuba, Baracoa, Havana, Trinidad , And Vinales for country side village tobacco growing region. Casaparticular for sure. Home stay best. They make you breakfast. If you want they can do dinner for fee. Better than any government restaurant. Find Paladars which are basically back yard or lobby restaurants.

Thanks for the info Jeannette.

If you go to Havana then Veradero beaches are reasonably close by - you can fly into one and out of the other - there are Casa Particulares there if you don't want a resort.
Nancy
Suggest you stay in the south or stay in the north - Cuba's much bigger than you'd think. Casa Particulares are available via various websites - we used Air BNB.CA (Not .com). Try Villa Malimbo in Havana or Casa Mabelsita if you want a condo - both in Vedado. Nice heritage triangle = Havana, Vinales, Trinidad - you can purchase bus tickets on the web with Viazul. Unless you're flying they go all over the country and you can check the travel time on their routes to determine how much travel time you needs. (Add an hour prior to departure for check in) If doing this then fly into Havana

Planning a Trip to Cuba: Staying in Private Homes and Finding the Best Flights
If you're planning a trip to Cuba for three weeks in December, staying in a private home can be an excellent way to experience the authentic Cuban culture and hospitality. Here are some tips and advice to help you plan your stay and find the best flights.
Staying in Private Homes (Casas Particulares)
Private home rentals, known as "casas particulares," have become increasingly popular in Cuba. These accommodations offer a unique opportunity to interact with locals and gain insight into their daily lives. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Online Booking: You can find and book casas particulares through various online platforms like Airbnb, CubaCasas, and CubaAccommodation. These websites provide detailed information, photos, and reviews from previous guests.
- Location: Consider the location of the casa particular you're interested in. Staying in popular neighborhoods like Vedado or Old Havana can be convenient for sightseeing and exploring the city.
- Amenities: Check the amenities offered by the casa particular, such as air conditioning, private bathrooms, and kitchen access. This will help ensure your comfort during your stay.
- Communication: Don't hesitate to reach out to the owners or hosts of the casas particulares before booking. Ask any questions you may have and clarify expectations on both sides.
Best Flights to Cuba
When it comes to choosing flights to Cuba, there are a few options to consider. While there are several airports in Cuba, the primary international airport is José Martà International Airport (HAV) in Havana.
- From the United States: Several major airlines, including American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, and United, offer direct flights from various cities in the US to Havana. These flights can be convenient but may be more expensive.
- From Europe: Airlines like Air France, Iberia, and KLM offer flights to Havana from major European cities, often with connections in their respective hubs.
- Consider Connecting Flights: If you're looking for more affordable options, consider flights with connections in cities like Miami, Cancun, or Panama City. These routes can be cheaper but may require longer travel times.
Remember to book your flights well in advance to get the best deals and availability. It's also a good idea to check entry requirements and visa regulations before finalizing your travel plans.
By staying in a casa particular and carefully planning your flights, you can experience the warmth and authenticity of Cuban culture while making the most of your three-week stay in this captivating island nation.
