How can I optimize my travel itinerary between Barcelona, Amsterdam, and London during a 17-day trip to Paris?

Question:

Hi everyone, I just booked a round trip to Paris. In between the 17 days, I wish to visit Barcelona, Amsterdam and London. Any recommendations on what the order of the cities should be to save the most time? And what type of transportation would you recommend?

We took the Eurostar to London from Paris. Quick and easy!

We are visiting Paris first when we arrive...So does it makes sense to put London last ?Also how many days did you stay in London? Thanks

We landed in Paris then took the train right out of GDG to Avignon and toured Provence and Cote d'Azure then back to Paris (all TGV trains) . Stayed 5 days in Paris and did London at the end, took Eurostar both ways and flew home from Paris. Stayed 2 nights in London but had pre-booked the things we wanted to see. Was awesome! Our daughter did Barcelona from Paris but she flew.

My favourite day in Barcelona was when we went to Montserrat. Plan to go early and take lots of water. We flew Barcelona to Paris to Nice and back to Barcelona. All quick flights of course, but would prefer to spend more time in the cities. Don't miss Versailles while you are in Paris!

that is a super packed itinerary! there is so much to see outside of Paris (Normandy, Chamonix, Vimy Ridge, Strasbourg, Ieper in Belgium etc). that I would just start in Paris, and rent a car/take the train slowly north to Amsterdam, and then Eurostar to London at the end. It's a more logical route if you skip Barcelona, and more enjoyable to really get a feel for the country than rushing it. I could easily allocate 17 days to the France/Amsterdam connection alone. Depends what you like to see/do. Don't let FOMO dictate the itinerary. Really savour each place. Europe is amazing - once you go once, you'll be hooked and be back.

Joanne I hear you, our first Europe trip was 3 weeks, 1 week each in Paris, Rome and London, we were exhausted by the time we got back, but it has spawned a love for all things Europe, we have been back 5 times since 2007

One thing to remember is that there are number of cheap airlines in Europe, such as Ryan air.
If you're going to spend time in Paris, try to find somewhere to, stay that will let you store excess luggage free waiting for your return.
We did that with a hotel in Amsterdam. We flew down to Turkey, spent 10 days there. Then we return to Amsterdam, and took the Eurostar to London and the UK for 10 days and returned to Amsterdam for 3 nights and picked up the luggage we had left there.
Didn't need to carry items from Istanbul and summer clothes to the UK and did't need to carry winter clothes to Turkey.
My suggestion would be to forget Spain, drive to Amsterdam and then take either a cheap flight or the Eurostar to London, then return from the to Paris.
Currently, we are looking to fly to Paris and to return from London.

My girlfriend and I took the Thalys train from London to Paris and Paris to Amsterdam and it was nice and much cheaper than Eurostar at the time.
I don't know if it goes to Barcelona, but if you can, I'd go south to Spain first, and then make your way north to London and then Amsterdam to avoid backtracking.
