Thank you Kristy: And I have used it for past trips. However this time I am not looking for what is out there, I am looking for what people recommend. Where have they been they loved and would go back.

I hear ya - would like to find a new resort in the Mayan and like the dealfinder but I would like more than 3 options. Too many resorts to pick from so a personal recommendation is a great way to go! People love "Secrets" in Huatulco which is 5* and Adults only...We stay at Las Brisas ourselves but it isn't Adult Only.

OMG - not every traveller that goes to Mexico dies ! ! I have been to Mexico 5 times, yet to have a problem, not even an encounter, daughter got Married there and never one single issue. If you are looking for trouble, whether Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican or anywhere else you certainly can find it ! ! ! I have been to Mexico, Cuba, The Dominican, Maui, Oahu, Jamaica and the list goes on and NEVER have I had a problem in any of the countries I have been too. Sorry but had to say something cause I'm tired of this same statement I've heard so many times before !

Been to rio de oro, Holguin about 15 yrs ago....beautiful place that shares a private beach with 2 resorts. We just did Barcelo Los cabos deluxe, Cabo San Lucas.....if you are ok with not being able to swim in the ocean, you won't be disappointed! Excellent rooms, excellent food hands down, even the buffets are great! But no night club on sight if that is what you need....take a look t that property

Deb - travellers do not die as much as they do in Mexico. Today's (Canadian) news highlighted yet another Mexico death; this time from a shoddily constructed balcony (RIP to the new bride). I've never heard of such a thing happen in Cuba, Dominican, Jamaica, etc. Yes, people looking for trouble will find it, but it seems that Mexico finds trouble at every turn. In my profession (Insurance), there are more kidnappings/hijackings in Mexico than in other any country IN THE WORLD...including South America and Africa. Nobody can every convince me that Mexico is a safe place to go.

maybe there are way more people going to Mexico too than to Cuba, so it's all relative. I have been to Cuba once, didn't care too much for it. To each their own, I guess. I've also been to Mexico 5 times, without a problem. I agree with Deb, if you want trouble, you can find it anywhere. Even in Calgary people get murdered and get run over by drunk drivers. Scary, eh?

Melanie

I agree with the sentiment too, but it's not only people looking for trouble that find it. Each to their own, as you say though. Just my opinion.

LMAO - to each there own, as i have said I have been there 5 times, my daughter and her husband 6 times and neither of us has ever had a problem. But for all those who wish not to go to Mexico there are numerous places to go that are just as good, 18th Ave and 5th Street SW Calgary may not be one of them ~ shooting there last night, or hmm maybe stay out of Chaparral as well, 2 stabbed there yesterday one now dead. see what I mean - it happens everywhere including in our own back yard !

^^^ speaking of shoddy construction.. remember when that mall in Ontario collapsed and killed a couple of people? Where's all the Anti-Ontario messages? I can't seem to find any. Also while on the subject wasn't it here in Calgary a man from Brazil was shot in the face and an Australian toddler killed by an unsafe construction site while innocently walking with her family in our downtown core? (And that's just incidents in one Canadian city!!) I suppose people should really start reconsidering their trips to Canada. Seems pretty unsafe.

You're right Krista, but this topic is speaking of holiday destinations, not Elliot Lake, Ontario....as tragic as that was....RIP to the people involved as it was a horrible tragedy (or Calgary, for that matter). I'm expressing my opinion on the terms of a vacation destination.

Jason, Bahamas and Barbados are both beautiful and lots of fun. Barbados is a longer flight but totally worth it. Bahamas have great beaches and golf courses and the people are super friendly

I agree on Barbados, so far it's been my favourite destination (and we don't do All Inclusive), followed closely by Negril, Jamaica (also non AI)
