Looking to take our family of four (2 adults, 3 yr old & baby) to Riviera Maya all inclusiven for a family vacation. Few questions.
1. Has anyone done a trip like this with little kids/a baby? Am I crazy?
2. Any resorts you've stayed at that we're great for young kids/families.
3. Is there a sweet spot for going in Oct/Nov/Dec that is cheaper? Fairly flexible on time and would go a certain week to save some money. … See more

We go to the Baha’i Príncipe in the Mayan. We took our 3 yr old grand daughter and she loved it. It is a very family orientated resort with huge playgrounds and water parks for the kids

Agree! We went in November with our 2 year old to the Bahia Principie Grand Coba and really enjoyed it! Lots of family with toddlers and babies as well.

No you’re not crazy, just know they require extra precautions. Extra sunscreen, hats, rash guard and lots of shade. Riviera Maya has be plagued by sargassum for a while and it’s supposed to get worse this year with a big mound of it washing up, so pools will be very important. We went to sandos playacar with our kids that age and it was amazing!

Fall can be hurricane season. That’s why it’s low season and prices can be cheaper Keep Watch in weather reports.

We just came back from the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya and had our 1.5 year old granddaughter. She had an absolute blast. The resort was huge and amazing with lots of wildlife, dolphins on site, Lazy river, huge rooms, kids splash park etc.
oct, nov, dec - weather can be unpredictable due to hurricane season but still warm.
Tips - snacklebox for the plane, bring blow up little boats for nap time, mini air pump to blow up boats, sand toys, umbrella for shade, microfibre towels etc..

We’ve done Bahia and Barcelo numerous times with our kids from babies up. Now we stick to the Barcelo Maya Grand (Colonial or Palace). It’s much closer to the airport and the layout is so much better. The kids pools are amazing and everything is close, plus there’s a kids club. The mall also has bowling and mini golf. October and November can be rainy season (but you could get lucky and it be incredible weather) and December is crazy expensive and busy if close to Christmas (we payed double what we normally do for this passed Christmas) But definitely go, you won’t regret it!!!!

I went in sep and again in Feb, in sep my daughters were 23 months and 5 months, Feb they were 2 and 10 months. They don’t have regular milk which sucked but my baby was on formula still, I took the packets and liquid, the premade liquid doesn’t work great if your out of your room, it was to hot for it. I took my own bottle brush and soap and used bottled water to wash the bottles. We stayed at planet Hollywood (north of Cancun) in sep and it has awesome facilities, down side is that it’s quite far from excursions so we didn’t do any, which was fine, because there is enough to do there. The second time we stayed at grand sirenis, Riviera, Maya. It wasn’t as easy to get around with the stroller and the kids play area sucked in comparison but I probably would have been happy with it if I hadn’t gone to PH first. The positives about grand sirenis was, it was closer to excursions, they had nightly shows, the beach snorkeling area was nice, the Japanese restaurant was really good and they have a dolphin building that has a sort of show. I have a friend that went to royalton splash recently, which is where I wanted to go, she said it’s to new, not good and she couldn’t wait to leave. If you have any questions feel free to pm me

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen is amazing! It has a full on water park for both babies/toddlers & a separate one for older kids. And I loved the rooms, as they were full on suites with a separate bedroom. So when the kiddos are sleeping or having a nap, there is still a separate living room for the adults to hang out in.

The Ocean Riviera Paradise is a smaller resort. The family building, the Daisy, is right next to the buffets and lobby. There is an amazing kids pool/play area right in front of the building. Restaurants are really close. Each building has its own pool so lots of room. We've been there twice and loved it. Kids club is great for the kids and there are nightly shows near the Daisy for kids and adults alike. Highly recommend this resort.

Family Vacation in Riviera Maya: Tips and Insights

Planning a family vacation with little ones can be daunting, but the Riviera Maya in Mexico is a fantastic destination for families with young children. Here are some insights and tips to help you plan the perfect getaway.

1. Am I crazy for taking a trip like this with little kids/a baby?

Not at all! While traveling with young children can be challenging, many families successfully navigate vacations with babies and toddlers. The key is to choose a family-friendly resort that caters to the needs of little ones and offers plenty of amenities and activities to keep everyone entertained.

2. Recommended Resorts for Families with Young Children

Here are a few highly recommended all-inclusive resorts in Riviera Maya that are great for families with young kids:

  • Grand Residences Riviera Cancun: This luxurious resort offers spacious suites, a dedicated kids' club, splash pads, and a lazy river perfect for little ones.
  • Beaches Resorts: With locations in Playa del Carmen and Negril, Beaches Resorts are known for their family-friendly amenities, including kids' clubs, water parks, and even a supervised program for infants.
  • Dreams Resorts & Spas: The Dreams Resorts & Spas brand has several properties in Riviera Maya, offering kids' clubs, family-friendly pools, and activities for all ages.

3. Finding the Best Deals in Oct/Nov/Dec

The fall and early winter months can be an excellent time to visit Riviera Maya, as you'll find lower prices and fewer crowds. Here are some tips for snagging the best deals:

  • Consider traveling in early December: While mid-December is peak season, the first two weeks of December can offer lower rates and smaller crowds.
  • Look for package deals: Many travel sites and resorts offer package deals that include airfare, accommodations, and sometimes even meals and activities.
  • Book early: Booking your trip several months in advance can often result in better rates and more availability.

Remember, traveling with little ones requires patience and flexibility, but with the right planning and preparation, a family vacation in Riviera Maya can be a cherished memory for years to come.
