The Amalfi Coast is wonderful. So many short excursions! Pompeii, Naples, Positano, Sorento, beautiful beaches and so much more! Its a Beautiful country but anywhere in Italy is wonderful! Best wishes!
Valentin
Why not to visit an island in Italy? .... I'm Italian and I will definitely suggest Sardinia....rent a car and enjoy the most beautiful and underestimated place in the country! It is my paradise!
Tracey
Sorento , avoid Naples completely , I found it very dirty and just a huge disappointment. Amalfi coast, Rome, bologna, Assisi, Venice, I absolutely loved Assisi also myself.
Rod
If it's only one (which is a shame) I'd say Florence. If time allows do yourself a favour and drive through Tuscany. Stop at any of the beautiful towns. Each with its own charm and history. Find the square and pull up the best chair and table you can find. Enjoy the view and people watching while having a glass of wine and a pizza. Memories you won't forget.
Chris
We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary in September 2017. It was all amazing but our favourite was the Amalfi Coast, Capri and Sorrento. These are a must for sure! Congratulations and enjoy!
Joanne
Florence if you are artsy. Rome if you like capital cities with historic monuments. The answer is all about your personal interests. I’d ignore them all and go to the Amalfi coast
Rod
Totally agree with you Joe. Both cities are magical. It is about taste. Last time I went it was summer and the Amalfi coast was soooo crowded. Tried driving it but it was at a stand still. Summer weekends obviously not the best time.
Lisa
I agree too, I did my bucket list and more in Italy, traveling extensively threw out, so I don’t need to repeat it, but the Amalfi coast could draw me back!
Joanne
Rod I had it to myself in October
Monique
Rod it was quiet in April! Absolutely beautiful!!
Sarah
Florence has a lot of historic art to see and yummy restaurants, Venice is just beautiful really no other place like it. Sienna is nice for a beach feel and the Island of Capri is close.
Trudy
Sienna is lovey but nowhere near a beach
Sarah
I meant Sorrento oops
Sarah
Siena is cool to though
Trudy
So is Sorrento!!!
Sarah
Tough to pick. I did a big trip through there and every place has a reason to go. My favorites were Rome, san Gimignano, Verona and hands down - Venice
Lori
We visited Venice, the Cinque Terre, Florence, Sienna and Rome. All were awesome in their own way but my favorite was FLORENCE.
Lisa
Oh that’s a tough one, hmmm
, what sticks out for in my travels threw out Italy was the food and wine
from cannoli in Capri to fantastic spaghetti in Venice
Rod
Good...wine and people. Can't go wrong.
Lisa
absolutely!
Lauren
Rome for cities I’ve been to. I’ve never been to cinque terre but that is top of my list for places to go in Italy
Wayne
Venice is only good for a day if you go to Rome make sure you when you go to the the Coliseum make sure you get to go underground I would go to Rome then you can go to Pompeii for a couple of days the Leaning Tower of Pisa is only good for a day cinqe to deTara is good for 3 or 4 days if you want to do lots of hiking we miss Florence so I can't comment on Florence if you want to talk more about Italy message me with your phone number and we can talk
Sharon
That’s exactly what my daughter and I just booked for May
Wayne
Sorry that was we missed Florence
Mary
Yes Cinque Terra. From La Spenza take a train only a few euros
(less than 5 euro each) stop at Montroesso and you can hike to any of the 5 villages. You can park your rented car underground at the train station. Wear hiking gears if you are planning to hike ie poles, water .. just gorgeous n very relaxing. Don’t forget bathing suits if you plan to swim. Gorgeous in the evening. Find cheap air bnb if you intend to stay.
Flora
Florence. Great art, friendly people, pedestrian only areas, and a beautiful view of the city from Piazzale Michelangelo.
Alicia
Florence wins hands down, I've been many times and there's always new stuff to discover. It's so walkable too, which is such a big plus.
Angelica
Modena, beautiful weather, great food, quaint little town, great people.
Troy
We love Venice, but if you can only do one, it’s Florence as you can also take day trips to Pisa and Cinque Terra.
Roberta
Florence also can include Pisa.
Short 1/2 hour bus ride (one way) or a booked excursion!
Christin
Sperlonga!!! Not very touristiquy and soooo romantic!! By the beach. Lots of great restaurants too (including one Michelin star that is very affordable!!)
Lauren
Lake Como was nice too but is a 1-2 day thing in my opinion. Wouldn’t be my top pick to go back to
Mary
I have to stress that everybody has a different interest and my nice may not be yours.
Ann
That goes without saying, but Erin asked for everyones favourite, so I will presume she will research each one and go from there.
Linz
Venice is really neat for a day trip but we LOVED Rome for our honeymoon.
Wayne
It doesn't matter where you go in Europe you have to watch out for the cigarettes smokers and the dog crap everywhere
Wendy
I was there last spring for two weeks and never saw one bit of dog crap. I saw dogs in the restaurants and grocery stores though!
Wayne
We seen it lots
Sarah
Oh that's tough! One I'd have to say Rome, but Florence and Cinque terre are too good to miss!
Sharon
For me I loved Rome and Naples. Day tours in Rome were amazing. Never been to Florence.
Kent

Positano, Sorrento, Rome. Venice is nice but only worth a few days. I loved everywhere except Naples. Tuscany region. It really depends on what your interests are. Each place and region are vastly different. Do you want beauty and relaxation or do you want history etc? We did really love Rome too and spent 3 days there pre-cruise and another 3 post cruise and we never tired of it. There is a lot to see and do, but that being said, not everyone is a fan of Rome. If I were to go back again, I'd focus on the Amalfi coast line. Probably stay in Sorrento or Positano and then branch off to different places from there for day trips. I do regret not going to Cinque Terre though!
Lori

Best City to Visit in Italy for Honeymoon
Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon trip to Italy! Italy is a beautiful country with so many amazing cities to explore. If you could only visit one city, I would highly recommend Venice.
Venice
Venice is known as the city of love and is the perfect romantic destination for a honeymoon. The city is made up of a series of islands connected by canals and bridges, creating a unique and picturesque setting. You can take a gondola ride through the canals, visit the historic St. Mark's Square, and explore the charming streets lined with colorful buildings.
Don't forget to visit the famous Rialto Bridge, take a stroll along the Grand Canal, and enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the many waterfront restaurants. Venice is truly a magical city that will create unforgettable memories for your honeymoon.
So if you could only visit one city in Italy for your honeymoon, I would definitely recommend Venice for its romantic atmosphere, stunning architecture, and unique charm. Have a wonderful trip!
