The Amalfi Coast is wonderful. So many short excursions! Pompeii, Naples, Positano, Sorento, beautiful beaches and so much more! Its a Beautiful country but anywhere in Italy is wonderful! Best wishes!

Why not to visit an island in Italy? .... I'm Italian and I will definitely suggest Sardinia....rent a car and enjoy the most beautiful and underestimated place in the country! It is my paradise!

Sorento , avoid Naples completely , I found it very dirty and just a huge disappointment. Amalfi coast, Rome, bologna, Assisi, Venice, I absolutely loved Assisi also myself.

If it's only one (which is a shame) I'd say Florence. If time allows do yourself a favour and drive through Tuscany. Stop at any of the beautiful towns. Each with its own charm and history. Find the square and pull up the best chair and table you can find. Enjoy the view and people watching while having a glass of wine and a pizza. Memories you won't forget.

We were there for our 40th wedding anniversary in September 2017. It was all amazing but our favourite was the Amalfi Coast, Capri and Sorrento. These are a must for sure! Congratulations and enjoy!

Florence if you are artsy. Rome if you like capital cities with historic monuments. The answer is all about your personal interests. I’d ignore them all and go to the Amalfi coast

Profile picture of Rod

Rod

Totally agree with you Joe. Both cities are magical. It is about taste. Last time I went it was summer and the Amalfi coast was soooo crowded. Tried driving it but it was at a stand still. Summer weekends obviously not the best time.

Profile picture of Lisa

I agree too, I did my bucket list and more in Italy, traveling extensively threw out, so I don’t need to repeat it, but the Amalfi coast could draw me back!

Venice is only good for a day if you go to Rome make sure you when you go to the the Coliseum make sure you get to go underground I would go to Rome then you can go to Pompeii for a couple of days the Leaning Tower of Pisa is only good for a day cinqe to deTara is good for 3 or 4 days if you want to do lots of hiking we miss Florence so I can't comment on Florence if you want to talk more about Italy message me with your phone number and we can talk

Profile picture of Mary

Yes Cinque Terra. From La Spenza take a train only a few euros
(less than 5 euro each) stop at Montroesso and you can hike to any of the 5 villages. You can park your rented car underground at the train station. Wear hiking gears if you are planning to hike ie poles, water .. just gorgeous n very relaxing. Don’t forget bathing suits if you plan to swim. Gorgeous in the evening. Find cheap air bnb if you intend to stay.

Positano, Sorrento, Rome. Venice is nice but only worth a few days. I loved everywhere except Naples. Tuscany region. It really depends on what your interests are. Each place and region are vastly different. Do you want beauty and relaxation or do you want history etc? We did really love Rome too and spent 3 days there pre-cruise and another 3 post cruise and we never tired of it. There is a lot to see and do, but that being said, not everyone is a fan of Rome. If I were to go back again, I'd focus on the Amalfi coast line. Probably stay in Sorrento or Positano and then branch off to different places from there for day trips. I do regret not going to Cinque Terre though!

Best City to Visit in Italy for Honeymoon

Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon trip to Italy! Italy is a beautiful country with so many amazing cities to explore. If you could only visit one city, I would highly recommend Venice.

Venice

Venice is known as the city of love and is the perfect romantic destination for a honeymoon. The city is made up of a series of islands connected by canals and bridges, creating a unique and picturesque setting. You can take a gondola ride through the canals, visit the historic St. Mark's Square, and explore the charming streets lined with colorful buildings.

Don't forget to visit the famous Rialto Bridge, take a stroll along the Grand Canal, and enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the many waterfront restaurants. Venice is truly a magical city that will create unforgettable memories for your honeymoon.

So if you could only visit one city in Italy for your honeymoon, I would definitely recommend Venice for its romantic atmosphere, stunning architecture, and unique charm. Have a wonderful trip!
