Anyone interested in going to Hawaii in January-early Feb for a SCUBA certification? Looking for a partner, my husband already dives and is not sure he could take time off to tag along. Some pretty sweet deals through westjet now, you can fly to Honolulu for about $425 round-trip if you travel during the week (Tue-Wed).

Looking at a few places, it looks like a good option is 3 full days. Just waiting to hear back re: availability and dates.

Padi Course in Vancouver is suppose to be the best scuba school in the world.

I went and dropped out for a variety of reasons. The prospect of freezing in an ice cold murky ocean was the biggest reason!

you can suit up with a proper drysuit. Maui has many padi instructors thrughout the islands. Best ones are near the Military base on Oahu

Another option is doing your course work in Vancouver and your open water dive in Maui to finish your certification.
I am with you, warm water and good visibility though we do have amazing diving in this area

Scuba Diving in Hawaii in January-February

Are you interested in going to Hawaii in January-early February for a scuba certification? I'm looking for a partner, my husband already dives and is not sure he could take time off to tag along.

Some pretty sweet deals through WestJet now, you can fly to Honolulu for about $425 round-trip if you travel during the week (Tue-Wed).

Here are some of the benefits of getting certified in Hawaii:

  • The water is crystal clear and warm, with visibility often exceeding 100 feet.
  • Hawaii is home to a wide variety of marine life, including turtles, dolphins, reef sharks, and rays.
  • There are many different dive sites to choose from, from shallow reefs to deep walls.
  • The dive shops in Hawaii are professional and experienced.

If you're interested in getting certified, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The certification process typically takes 3-4 days.
  • You will need to complete a written exam and a practical exam.
  • The cost of certification varies, but typically ranges from $300-$500.

If you're ready to take the plunge, here are a few tips for finding a dive buddy:

  • Ask your friends and family if they would be interested in getting certified with you.
  • Post a message on a scuba diving forum or website.
  • Contact a local dive shop and see if they offer any buddy programs.

I hope this helps!
