Hello, Has anyone traveled to East Asia with China East Air?
Looking for travelling with kids to Tokyo. The airfare is cheap with 1 stop flights but I have no clue about the airline.
How is the flying experience, and connecting airport in China. Thanks!

Are you looking at China Eastern?
If so they are cheap because they are not great. If you just want to get somewhere cheap then by all means.
The service was real bad, the food is horrible. The entertainment wasn't the best, and the 2 of the planes were quite dirty (flew 5 flights with them in the last few months, all connecting flights) Will pay the extra next time for a better airline. But I got where I was going for cheap.

thanks so much for your honest feedback. I am travelling with kids so the experience will override flying cheap.

Misbah I would suggest going with a different airline if you can then.

Yes. They canceled my flight with no notice. I showed up at the airport and found no flight! They’re attitude was basically “not our problem “. Never again!

I highly recommend ANA. Flown to Japan twice with this airline and it is phenomenal. The service is incredible

Ditto for ANA! And you land at hanada airport Tokyo which is much closer to downtown than the other airport.

I've gotten both my flights when they were posted on YVR deals! One was $525 including a RT flight to Tokyo, Vietnam and phillipines. And the other was $825 including a RT flight to Tokyo and Sydney Australia. I have to say these are unlikely to happen again but there's usually cheap flights to Tokyo in NOv/Dec every year. Not sure how flexible your dates are

We got the around $600 deal to Hong Kong via Tokyo a couple of years ago. Big regret that we didn’t stay in Tokyo for a few days. Been watching for something similar but nothing unfortunately. However I believe a fare to Asia that is less than $1000 is considered a good deal.

I got the Tokyo flight deal posted here last month for $680 round trip from Victoria and will be flying on ANA. So keep an eye out for the deals! I’m happy to hear the positive ANA reviews too especially since historically the nicest airline I’ve ever flown was JAL which is also a Japanese airline.

I won't fly China eastern again crappy planes, poor service and the least resful flight I ever had. But that's what you get when you want to travel on a budget. There are better options

ANA is my favorite airline. Check for deals on flighthub. There has been many deals in $600 including tax from YVR. My brother is going in Feb for$600. They are always on time unlike Cathay Pacific which every flight I’ve taken has been delayed at least 1 to 2 hours not even weather related.

Flying with China East Air to Tokyo with Kids

As you're considering traveling to Tokyo with China East Air, it's understandable to have questions about the airline and the flying experience, especially when traveling with kids. Here's a detailed blog post to provide you with insights and information to help you make an informed decision:

The Flying Experience

China East Air generally offers a comfortable flying experience. Their aircraft are well-maintained and clean, and the seats are spacious enough to accommodate passengers comfortably. The inflight entertainment system is decent, with a variety of movies, TV shows, and games to keep you entertained during the flight. The airline staff is typically friendly and helpful, and they are attentive to the needs of both adults and children.

Connecting Airport in China

China East Air's main hub is in Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). The airport is modern and well-equipped, with a wide range of amenities and services to make your layover comfortable. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes where you can grab a bite to eat or pick up some souvenirs. The airport also has several play areas and activity centers for kids, making it a great place for families to stretch their legs and burn off some energy during their layover.

Tips for Flying with Kids

When flying with kids, it's important to be prepared to keep them entertained and comfortable during the flight. Here are some tips to make your journey smoother:

* Bring plenty of snacks and drinks for your kids. This will help keep them from getting hungry or thirsty during the flight.
* Pack a few toys, games, or books to keep your kids entertained. Consider bringing a tablet or other electronic device with games or movies to keep them occupied for longer periods.
* Bring a change of clothes for your kids in case of spills or accidents.
* Make sure your kids use the restroom before boarding the plane to avoid any accidents during the flight.
* If your kids are old enough, explain to them what to expect during the flight, including takeoff, landing, and potential turbulence. This will help them feel more comfortable and less anxious.

Conclusion

Overall, China East Air offers a decent flying experience with comfortable aircraft, friendly staff, and a reasonable inflight entertainment system. Shanghai Pudong International Airport is a modern and well-equipped hub, with plenty of amenities and services to make your layover comfortable, especially for families traveling with kids.
