My Husband and I just got back Saturday! I loved the beaches and snorkelling in the Gili Islands( white sand, turquoise water, turtles!) Ubud is worth a visit, we loved it there. ( rice terraces, coffee plantations, good food, monkey forest) My Husband loved Seminyak - but it's much busier.

There's such a range of places. We found you could get quite a bit for your money. Especially if you compare to what you can get here in BC. Our private pool villa in Nusa Lembongan was cheaper than staying at the Penticton lakeside resort in the summertime.
. But of course there are places you can stay at in excess of 1000/night as well.

Gabriole My girlfriend got married at the then Sheraton Bali http://www.thelagunabali.com/ and she considered the Four Seasons http://m.fourseasons.com/jimbaranbay/weddings/ but they didn't have availability. Either one would be fantastic.

I neglected to mention my sister had her honeymoon at the Banyan Tree Phuket http://www.banyantree.com/en/ap-thailand-phuket-resort. I highly recommend it because it will be more affordable in terms of airfare, food and hotel. We will be there in a few weeks, not staying at Banyan Tree Laguna this time because they are sold out but we will be next door and can access their spa and restaurants. From Phuket you have easy access to many islands such as Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, etc for snorkelling, scuba diving and elephant trekking (coolest).

We did the north beach. Black sand. Also we did a trip over to Komodo Island? And stayed there for a few days. Bali is amazing. We stayed in Nusa Dusa. Boring everything was quiet at 9pm. Kuta is crazy and young but Sunar is in the middle.
We would not take the cab at our hotel. Walked out to the street and got a local cab and way cheaper. Also the local grocery market had restaurants that were great and cheap. Find out where the locals eat.
Hotel had great food but not cheap. Alcohol is not cheap as their religion frowns upon it. We drank beer and wine. Most wines are from Australia. I have wonderful memories of Bali as that was our honeymoon. Bought lots of cool wood sculptures super cheap and silver and pearls. Coffee and inscents.
Enjoy.

Hi. I was at Nusa Dua... it's mostly a resort area close to the beach, with hotels. Ideally a good place for all kinds of water sports.
Although I missed it. But going to the Gili Islands is supposed to be beautiful. You will have to take a boat to there from Bali.
I know someone from Bali I can recommend. His family are wood carvers... he had a home stay or a villa to rent. He even does tours or driver service. He lives in the Gianyar area, closer to Ubud. Message me if u want an intro to him

  • Book your flights and accommodation in advance: Especially if you are traveling during the peak season.
  • Get a visa if necessary: Citizens of some countries require a visa to enter Indonesia.
  • Pack light: You will be doing a lot of walking and exploring, so it is best to pack light.
