It's very good but you must practice what you learn.

Save yourself the money and download "Duolingo".
Same thing, a lot cheaper.

I think it depends on what you're wanting to accomplish. If you want to become fluent (in Spanish as an example), I would strongly recommend the U of C continuing ed program. Not sure if you are in Calgary but it was EXCELLENT for us. We were fortunate enough to take advantage of the program on Saturday mornings and over 3 years, we learned ALL the grammar (and it's a LOT) together with tons of vocabulary and our prof was Bertha Stillman who is AWESOME. She is a bonafied teacher and is from Mexico City. Our experience was absolutely wonderful and we continue to register for conversational classes with students we were with for most of that 3 years. Anyway...we're still not completely fluent but getting there.....necesita practicar, practicar, practicar....
Michael
I did this program. It made a huge difference in my Spanish.
Kevin
Michael great to hear!...you must have studied at the campus then...curious how you found that other students and the teacher you had, Michael...it wasn't Bertha then was it?...made a mistake on her last name above...it was Dillman, not Stillman....
Michael
Boy ...was a lot of years ago. I had several instructors. But 1 more than the others and her name was Patricia. I think she was from Argentina. And now I live in Nicaragua and spending all the effort on the program was definitely worthwhile.
Kevin
There are many. I use Rosetta Stone for my Espanol. I should take the lessons more often, but poco y poco es mejor. Just don't pay full price for it, they always have a deal somewhere.
Kristen
I haven’t used it but If you want to learn a language, go to the country, take in a language school with a home stay option
Kevin
Totally, Kristen!...on our list to do an immersion...the dilemma is always spending all that time in class and then if you already have a place you are staying, you're also paying extra for the in-home stay with your spanish hosts. We always have a finite amount of time in countries/places we visit so it's a real investment if you decide to do the immersion. All depends on time you have and, of course, the priority you place on it. For us, it WILL happen...simplemente necesitamos decider el tiempo mejor. Un dia!!
Kim
Yes she is very good.
Kevin
Once you get to CR there are many class for the gringo group to become fluent.

Is Rosetta Stone as Amazing as They Say?
Rosetta Stone is a well-known language learning software that promises to help you learn a new language quickly and effectively. With its immersive approach and interactive lessons, it has gained a reputation as one of the best language learning tools available. However, whether it lives up to its claims is a subject of debate.
The Pros of Rosetta Stone
One of the main advantages of Rosetta Stone is its intuitive and engaging learning method. Instead of relying on textbooks and grammar rules, the software uses real-life scenarios and images to teach vocabulary and sentence structure. This immersive approach is said to mimic the way children learn their native language, making it easier to retain and apply the new language.
Additionally, Rosetta Stone offers a wide range of languages, including popular ones like Spanish, French, and German, as well as less commonly taught languages like Russian, Arabic, and Hebrew. The software also allows you to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule, making it a convenient option for busy individuals.
The Cons of Rosetta Stone
While Rosetta Stone has its strengths, it also has some drawbacks. One of the main criticisms is its high cost. The software can be quite expensive, especially if you want to learn multiple languages or need to purchase additional resources like audio companions or online subscriptions.
Another concern is the lack of explicit grammar instruction. While the immersive approach can be effective for some learners, others may find it challenging to grasp the intricacies of grammar without formal explanations and exercises. This can make it difficult to achieve advanced proficiency in the language.
Furthermore, Rosetta Stone's focus on vocabulary and sentence structure may not provide sufficient practice in other essential language skills, such as listening comprehension, speaking, and writing.
The Verdict
Overall, whether Rosetta Stone is as amazing as they say depends on your learning style, goals, and budget. For those who prefer an immersive and visual approach to language learning, and who have the financial means to invest in the software, Rosetta Stone can be an excellent tool. However, for learners who need more explicit grammar instruction or a more comprehensive approach to language acquisition, it may not be the best choice.
Ultimately, it's important to consider your individual needs and preferences before deciding if Rosetta Stone is the right language learning solution for you.
