Just got back from there two days ago! Free Tours By Foot is worth checking out. Did the Harlem tour with them, which was awesome. Would have liked to do the East Village food tour but it was PDR our last day. NY city library is an amazing place - check out the free tour or the audio tour if the "real" one is full. High Line and Chelsea Market are both vey cool. Come From Away is a must-see. So is the 9-11 Museum. So well done!

Did 3 of these as well. They are fantastic.

Grayline hop on and off tours. You can get on one at Times Square and see all of Manhattan easily. They come every 15 minutes and you'll save a ton on cabs. It will take you to The Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero (9-11 memorial) China Town, Little Italy, downtown, Central Park .

Red Rooster in Harlem. See what is going on in Ginny’s supper club. I highly recommend the travel forums on trip advisor lots of tips from locals. Go to St Paul’s church, wander through Central Park, the Apollo Theatre. Tons of live theatre that isn’t on Broadway. Pick up an issue of the New Yorker and see what is happening in the city. Lots of great small local bars and restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen. We have been several times and always find something new

Rent bikes for Central Park. If you walk the Brooklyn Bridge and head down towards the water there are about 8 hidden restaurants— all good food, and and ice cream shoppe. You can take the ferry cab back. Also, Raclette is a hidden food gem if you like cheese waterfalls. Heading out towards Yankee stadium gets you into neighbourhoods that remind you of Seinfeld and Friends (if you’re a TV buff). I’d skip the Empire State Building tour and Wall Street if I had to do it again, they were just “whatever” sites.

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge, and reflect on the grounds of Ground Zero.

This was a high light for me, I find great interest in how those before us, lived.

Heading to New York and looking for unique experiences beyond the typical tourist spots? Look no further! Here are some personal recommendations for great eats, unique activities, and special spots to check out:
Great Eats:
For a delicious and authentic New York dining experience, head to Joe's Pizza in Greenwich Village. Their classic New York-style pizza is a must-try!
Unique Activity:
If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience, consider taking a helicopter tour of the city. Seeing the iconic skyline from above is truly unforgettable.
