Grand Sirenus south of Playa Del Carmen. There's a small islet right off beach you can snorkel out a short distance and see coral and tropical fish right there. Good all inclusive resort.

I am somewhat spoiled when it comes to the coast . I have a place to stay in PDC as well as my motorcycle there. It's a short ride and nice cruise to PM . If I / we spend the night we just grab what is available
Candy
So true, but so many fishing boats will take you there for like 25.00

What kind of deals have you found? I've been watching for February and the prices have been high
Patsy
This is last minute. 855 for a week all in, staying in a hostel on the beach on Ambergris Caye. #2 in the world for snorkelling I'm told. Didn't realize yu were travelling in Feb.
Patsy
Check out hostels - you can afford to spend a little more on fights if you find a good one.

I drove out to Tofino this past summer and stayed in a hostel right on the ocean. $40 a night all in. Great digs and close to everythinng needed so I could walk everywhere. Had the run of the place - full kitchen, steam room, livingroom was huge, full dining area and parking. Plus you get deals on local sights for staying there. Hostels are the way to go my friend.

Best Snorkeling Spots Right Off the Beach in Mexico and Cuba
If you're looking for a serene snorkeling experience right from the shoreline, Mexico and Cuba offer some truly spectacular options. With their warm waters, vibrant marine life, and incredible visibility, these destinations are a snorkeler's paradise. Here are a few suggestions for the best spots to explore:
Mexico
Akumal Beach
Located along the Riviera Maya, Akumal Beach is a snorkeling hotspot renowned for its crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life. The shallow, protected bay is home to sea turtles, stingrays, and a variety of tropical fish. The sandy bottom and gentle currents make it an ideal spot for beginners and families.
Isla Mujeres
Just a short ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres boasts several beautiful beaches with excellent snorkeling opportunities. El Garrafon and Playa Norte are two popular spots known for their calm waters and vibrant coral reefs teeming with colorful fish.
Cuba
Playa Ancón
Located on the northern coast of Cuba, near Trinidad, Playa Ancón is a hidden gem for snorkelers. This idyllic beach offers shallow, crystal-clear waters and a diverse array of marine life, including schools of colorful fish, coral formations, and even the occasional sea turtle.
Playa Pilar
Situated on the Cayo Guillermo archipelago, Playa Pilar is a snorkeler's paradise. The calm, turquoise waters and vibrant coral gardens make it an ideal spot for exploring the underwater world. The beach is also known for its excellent visibility and abundance of marine life, including angelfish, parrotfish, and even nurse sharks.
When snorkeling at any of these locations, it's essential to choose a day with calm seas and minimal wind for the best visibility and safest conditions. Additionally, remember to respect the marine environment and avoid touching or disturbing the coral and wildlife.
Whether you're a seasoned snorkeler or a beginner, Mexico and Cuba offer incredible opportunities to explore the vibrant underwater world right from the beach. So grab your snorkel gear, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!
