I love Croatia, personally, but I'm not one for all-inclusives etc. and like to explore. Great airbnb's and various islands and cities to see.... I've only been in June so not sure re: spring weather.
Corinne
Greek island hopping. Hotels and food are cheap and the beaches clean and pretty empty in May.
Andrew
Portugal and Spain
Eduardo
I second Portugal and Spain...
Both are cheap (compared to the rest of Europe), warm, great food, culture, etc...
Portugal a bit more than Spain, but both are totally worth it.
If you choose those 2 countries, MUST go to Lisbon and Barcelona...
Porto is nice too, interior Portugal I haven't been but heard it's beautiful.
Madrid is ok but big city (good food and lively night life!)
There's other nice cities too, Seville, maybe Valencia, etc...
Angela
Croatia!

Keep in mind the Zika virus!

Not what you asked for but... the Cook Islands were magical!
Sharron
For sure. We were there many years ago. Time to return.

I really found Croatia was overrated (sorry!) But Greece is incredible! Probably Italy and Greece, maybe Paris too if you have 3 weeks
We honeymooned in Europe for 8 weeks. I'm happy to share tips if and when you decide where to go!
Ps: there is a KLM sale to Amsterdam today for May/June. Your cheapest bet is taking that to Europe then finding budget flights once you're there
Jamie
Thanks! I would love some info
Kate
Cool! Let me know on what specifically, I covered a lot of ground
Jamie
Ok. Apparently Spring is not the warmest times to go. We do want warmth but not the busiest time. I'll talk to my husband and see what he thinks too
Kate
September would be my suggestion. It's still warm but the height of tourist season is over.
Nicky
I second Greece and Italy. I also loved Egypt
Cindy
Santorini greece is the most beautiful place i have ever been. Perfect for honeymoon! Oia was beautiful! The sunsets amazing! Late spring wont be that warm yet for the beach! Have a look at volcano view hotel. We booked well in advance and got a great deal! Rooms are all white and are caves!
Kate
^agreed

I wasn't a massive Croatia fan either but tie it in with Slovenia (had a beautiful dinner in a castle overlooking Lake Bled) and Montenegro then you have culture, city and beach. All budget friendly. I went April/May time and weather was lovely!
Jackie
We're actually planning our honeymoon too... we're off to Colombia in February. Congrats on your wedding btw
Jamie
You too! Have fun. My son was just showing me a bunch of stuff about Croatia and Montenegro

My husband and I recently went to Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens and Santorini for 18g in 34 days, it was tiring but it was all worth it. My fave are all of Italy and Greece (cheapest), Lisbon and Amsterdam.

The Perfect Honeymoon Destination for Sunshine and Warmth
Congratulations on your wedding! As you embark on this new chapter in your life, planning your honeymoon can be an exciting and overwhelming task. With so many destinations to choose from, it can be hard to narrow down your options.
To help you find the perfect honeymoon spot, we've put together a few ideas that fit your criteria of 3-4 weeks, late spring, sunshine and warmth, Europe or Latin America, and a modest budget.
Europe
- The Greek Islands: With crystal-clear waters, ancient ruins, and picturesque villages, the Greek Islands offer a romantic and affordable honeymoon destination. Consider visiting Santorini, Mykonos, or Crete for a combination of stunning landscapes, delicious food, and vibrant nightlife.
- The Amalfi Coast, Italy: This breathtaking stretch of coastline in southern Italy is known for its dramatic cliffs, colorful towns, and azure waters. Spend your days exploring the charming villages of Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, and enjoy romantic dinners with stunning ocean views.
- The Algarve, Portugal: Located in southern Portugal, the Algarve boasts stunning beaches, golf courses, and historic towns. It's a great destination for couples looking for a mix of relaxation and adventure. Visit Praia da Marinha, one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, or play a round of golf on one of the many championship courses.
Latin America
- Costa Rica: This eco-friendly destination offers a unique blend of rainforests, beaches, and volcanoes. Spend your days zip-lining through the jungle, hiking to hidden waterfalls, and relaxing on the pristine beaches. Don't miss a visit to Manuel Antonio National Park, home to a diverse array of wildlife.
- The Galapagos Islands, Ecuador: An archipelago of volcanic islands off the coast of Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Snorkel with sea lions, hike among giant tortoises, and spot exotic birds. It's an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe of nature's wonders.
- The Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico: With its turquoise waters, ancient Mayan ruins, and charming colonial cities, the Yucatan Peninsula offers a diverse and affordable honeymoon destination. Explore the underwater world of the Great Mayan Reef, visit the iconic Chichen Itza ruins, and relax on the beautiful beaches of Tulum.
Budget-Friendly Tips
- Consider traveling during the shoulder season (late April or early May) to avoid peak-season prices.
- Look for discounts and deals on flights, accommodation, and tours.
- Opt for budget-friendly accommodation options such as hostels or guesthouses.
- Cook some meals in your room or apartment instead of dining out every night.
- Take advantage of free activities such as hiking, swimming, and exploring local markets.
No matter which destination you choose, planning your honeymoon should be an enjoyable and memorable experience. We hope these ideas help you find the perfect spot to celebrate your new life together.
Congratulations once again and enjoy your honeymoon!
