I spent a lot of time there... especially in Bern. The trains are a very good way to travel there. All major cities are cool! I didn't make it to the Materhorn (spelling?) but I heard great things. The train ride from Bern down to Italy (Milano/Florence) was incredible. Wine and beer are ok priced. Mixed drinks are not. I love the old town in Bern as well as the Tea Clock, the Aare (river you can float on), the Rosen Garten etc. Sorry for the spelling. It has been a while. Oh and Lucerne (I think it was called) was beautiful. I loved walking around the lake.

Planning a Trip to Switzerland in 2024
Switzerland is a breathtaking destination with its snow-capped mountains, charming villages, and rich cultural heritage. Whether you opt for a guided tour or plan your own itinerary, there's plenty to explore in this beautiful country.
Guided Tours in Switzerland
Guided tours can be a convenient way to experience Switzerland, especially if you're short on time or prefer a well-organized itinerary. Several reputable tour companies offer packages that cover the country's highlights.
One traveler shared their experience with Globus Tours:
"We took the 'Swiss Escape' tour with Globus Tours, and it was fantastic. The tour covered Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt, and Geneva. We had knowledgeable local guides at each stop, and the accommodations were top-notch. The tour allowed us to see the best of Switzerland in a short time."
Another popular option is Trafalgar Tours, which offers multiple Switzerland itineraries, including the 'Best of Switzerland' tour. This tour visits Zurich, Bern, Montreux, Zermatt, and Lucerne, providing a comprehensive overview of the country.
Self-Guided Adventures in Switzerland
If you prefer more flexibility and independence, planning your own Swiss adventure can be equally rewarding. One traveler shared their experience:
"We rented a car and spent two weeks exploring Switzerland at our own pace. We started in Zurich, then headed to Interlaken, where we hiked in the Lauterbrunnen Valley and took a cable car to the Schilthorn summit. We also visited Grindelwald, Zermatt (for stunning views of the Matterhorn), and Lucerne. Having a car gave us the freedom to stop whenever we wanted and take in the breathtaking scenery."
Another traveler recommended the Swiss Travel Pass, which provides unlimited access to trains, buses, and boats across the country:
"The Swiss Travel Pass was a game-changer for our self-guided trip. We were able to easily hop on and off trains, exploring destinations like Geneva, Montreux, Zermatt, and the Jungfrau Region without worrying about transportation costs. The pass also gave us discounts on certain attractions and mountain railways."
Whether you choose a guided tour or plan your own adventure, Switzerland is sure to leave you awestruck with its natural beauty and cultural richness. Do your research, plan ahead, and get ready to create unforgettable memories in this Alpine paradise.
