Try UrbanSuiteDigs. airbnb. We stayed there, in Strathcona. Pretty much in the city but not downtown towers. Like a beautiful hotel suite at a fraction of the cost.

It's Pride week/end in Vancouver and usually hard to find hotels that don't cost a fortune. Might try the outskirts...Richmond, Burnaby, North Vancouver, places with easy transit access, if other options above don't pan out. Good luck.

It might be tough no matter what you do. It is BC day long weekend and Vancouver PRIDE. It's one of the busiest weekends in Vancouver for hotels.

The Chateau Granville is about a 30 minute walk.

There is a hostel on Granville Street. No age restriction.

The problem is, not only is it pride week, it is also the BC day long holiday.
