Have you recently flown Air Canada to Heathrow? How was the experience?

Just arrived today on AC. Flew into terminal 2 and walked right through customs. No problem except a 4 hour delay and multiple excuses from AC ( security issue and then a maintenance issue) but that seems to be the norm these days
David
Kyra you'll be in England
Bonnie
Following! Doing the same on Monday.
Shelley
We went last Thursday on AC. 6pm flight. Flew thru security at YVR and waited less than 10 min. For customs at LHR
Larissa
Following! Also doing the same next week
Tulin
We were in Heathrow a week ago arriving from Vancouver.
No real issues for us, however got chatting with some passengers from an air canada flight from Toronto, 5 hour late and missing luggage. I guess you roll the dice.
Liz
Tulin yes it does sound like more issues with non-direct flights so
Steve
Flew in two Saturday’s ago to LHR direct from YVR. No issues on either end. Things went very smoothly other than 20 mins late departing YVR.
David
Do Carry on only. Flights are still going, but definitely do Carry On.
Rob
Did that journey with AC a couple of weeks back and waited two hours for my luggage. Better than on the way back with United which took them 48 hours to reunite me with my suitcase
Rob
Liz perhaps I was fortunate was AC going out. My nephew said he felt sorry for me flying united back but I’d never had an issue with them. But wow! Clusterf**k and a half.
Liz
Rob indeed - more useful to have clothes when you actually go on holiday/away!
Rob
Liz make sure you have a few days spare in your carry on if possible. Safe journeys back
Lisa
I don’t know the airline but my friend just posted her daughter just got back from the UK. Her luggage is still in London
Rob
Lisa the airline world is an utter shambles. They’ll hike prices, deliver less and even leave you stranded. It’s a lottery out there right now. Hope your friends daughter gets her bags soon
Lisa
Rob I hope so too. My daughter is flying to Montreal next month for work. She’s resorted to taking a carry on only - given the bag issues they’ve been having. They’ll just have to get used to seeing her rotating her outfits. Lol
Rob
It’s funny, was talking with daughter about carry-ons etc today as she’s going back to Uni out east. Probably best to have two sets of clothes, one at each end of the country. Just unfortunate that that doesn’t apply to 99% if travellers.
Marlene
Following.. flying to Heathrow in September from YVR with a stop in Montreal
hoping for things to get better by then

Former AC employee..20 of us quit in one day not long ago..cancellations last minute happens regularly..300 plus passengers having to be rebooked..passengers have been extremely rude(not all but getting called the ‘c’ word and told to ‘f’ off because they are asked to put a mask on) we hate the masks but we are federally mandated and has nothing to do with us or AC..having said all this avoid London/Italy workers are going on strike and all unions go on strike to show support..happy travels!
Rob
Vf Having worked at YVR way before the pandemic I found passengers to be absolute assholes. So to have been there when covid kicked off and through the pandemic I take my hat off to you and your (ex) colleagues.
Lisa
Rob people really are awful. I’ve actually called someone out at Starbucks for being a complete douche to the barista. Just. Why. Everyone is just trying to do their job. I was on hold for 5 HOURS with westjet in February. I was frustrated beyond belief but had to remind myself the guy that eventually answered was doing the best he could under the circumstances. I’m sure they no doubt deal w the jerks all day long.
Vf
Rob it’s a
show..80 percent of staff are new as the old timers were given buy outs and no one knows what’s going on..you obviously get it and it’s only gotten worse!!
Rob
I witnessed United getting rid of all their agents and contracting out. I did no work the first day they worked as I was watching the absolute meltdown. Not those employees faults, just the airline.
Rob
Lisa Agree completely. I did get annoyed with the agent dealing with my missing bag as I could tell she was reading from a script. I just wanted her to listen and think like the passenger at the other end. Other than that people are horrible. I would never work in customer services again. It’s not worth the mental health of some. I got out before I got in trouble for telling someone to go do one
Lisa
Rob I would imagine it would be very hard not to some days!

travelled there July 4 on AC , returned home last night - Heathrow security with a CDN passport uses automatic kiosks , very efficient, baggage was another story with not enough handlers to move it from off the plane to baggage carousels, took 2 / 12 hours with hundreds of other bags previously abandoned due to peoples' connections and multi flights in same conveyor area. God help anyone who is trying to collect for a connection. Returning last night through YVR albeit with so many docs to complete before arriving - Arrive Can etc. was a relief to see normal wait times for bags and security. Masking required for the entire flight each way with stern warnings of penalties but once crossing the gangway into Heathrow no masks . Historic heatwave in UK while we were there and many places NOT air conditioned. - I know more than you asked....

Traveling with Air Canada to Heathrow
Recently, there have been some concerns about traveling with Air Canada to Heathrow. However, I am happy to report that my family and I have safely arrived in the UK without any major issues.
After some passport issues that required us to pick up our passports just 5 hours before our flight, everything else went smoothly. The check-in process, security, and luggage handling were all very straightforward.
For those who are planning to travel on the YVR-LHR direct route with Air Canada, rest assured that the conditions at their end are well-managed. The staff were helpful and efficient, making the journey a pleasant experience.
Happy travels to all who are embarking on a journey with Air Canada to Heathrow!
