China Airlines and air china are totally different.

Booked them from Taipei to Vancouver. Not the best airline in east Asia, but I have no complaints. Airplanes are a bit old, food is mediocre, and entertainment is poor. But no flight delays or hidden fees.

Thanks. I had heard they didnt have a very good safety record.

Compared to other east asian airlines, this one is a bit lacking but still trumps canadian carriers. having said that, the flights there matter not, its the destination that counts

Its my son travelling with his buddies and they just want the cheapest fare possible.

I recently found air canada had the cheapest to bkk with good connection times. I'm going just before New Years. air canada to Hong Kong then Cathay to bkk. I had a friend recently fly with air china. Long stopover, flight was late and she said they had really bad food and she lives in Asia

I've taken both. air china is average, just don't have super high expectations. China Airlines has better service.

Be prepared for not much service. If u want anything u will need to pay for it. If u GI in with no expectations u won't have any problems.

You get what you pay for and some people aren't fussy about air travel- I say if it means you get to go a wicked trip, book it and spend your savings on something else

I saw that as well all of there reviews online or negative so I didn't go with them and same with China southern so I opted for Eva air instead which has way more positive reviews then negative! I'd rather spend the extra 62$ or so!!

Is China Air a Decent Airline?

Planning a trip to Thailand and looking for the most budget-friendly option? China Air might have caught your eye with their tempting low fares. However, before booking your flight, it's essential to consider the overall quality of the airline to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free journey.

About China Air

China Air, also known as Air China, is the flag carrier of China and one of the major airlines in the country. It operates an extensive network of domestic and international routes, including flights to Thailand. Despite being a budget-friendly option, China Air has received mixed reviews from travelers, with some praising its affordability and others expressing concerns about certain aspects of their service.

The Pros

  1. Affordable Fares: One of the primary advantages of flying with China Air is their competitive pricing, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious travelers.
  2. Route Network: With a vast domestic network within China and connections to various international destinations, including Thailand, China Air offers convenient travel options.
  3. On-Time Performance: According to flight tracking websites, China Air generally maintains decent on-time performance, minimizing the risk of significant delays.

The Cons

  1. Service Quality: Some travelers have reported inconsistent service quality, with complaints ranging from unfriendly or inefficient staff to subpar in-flight meals and entertainment options.
  2. Dated Aircraft: While China Air is gradually updating its fleet, some of their aircrafts may feel outdated, with older interiors and limited amenities.
  3. Language Barriers: As with many Chinese airlines, language barriers can sometimes pose challenges when communicating with crew members who may have limited English proficiency.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the decision to fly with China Air depends on your priorities and expectations. If you're primarily focused on finding the most affordable option and are willing to compromise on certain amenities, China Air could be a viable choice. However, if in-flight comfort, service quality, and a more modern travel experience are crucial factors for you, it might be worth considering other airline options, even if they come at a higher cost.

Remember, reviews can vary greatly based on individual experiences, and it's always advisable to research thoroughly and manage your expectations accordingly.
