Yesterday I read an article about traveling to Peru and machu pichu. Look up traveling alone, and the dangers of it. Peru was listed as one of the top places to take extra caution while traveling solo. I have traveled to Europe and Mexico solo before and had no problems. Just be well informed before you go. Have a great time.

Solo Travel to Peru in December: An Adventure for the Young at Heart
Ah, Peru – a land of ancient wonders, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable adventures. If you're a young traveler seeking a solo journey filled with excitement and exploration, this South American gem should be at the top of your list for the end of December. Whether you're a hiking enthusiast, an adrenaline junkie, or simply a lover of cultural immersion, Peru has something to offer for every adventurous soul.
Embrace the Inca Trail
No trip to Peru would be complete without tackling the iconic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This four-day trek through the Andes Mountains is a challenging yet rewarding experience, offering stunning vistas, ancient ruins, and a chance to connect with the rich history of the Inca Empire. While it's possible to embark on this journey independently, it's highly recommended to book a guided tour with a reputable company like Intrepid Travel or G Adventures. These tours provide knowledgeable guides, porters to assist with carrying your gear, and all the necessary permits and logistics.
Explore the Amazon Rainforest
For those seeking a more immersive adventure, venture into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. From the bustling city of Iquitos, you can embark on multi-day excursions with companies like Corps Hunters Travel or Amazon Eco Tours. These tours offer opportunities to spot exotic wildlife, interact with indigenous communities, and experience the raw beauty of the world's largest rainforest. Be prepared for some rustic accommodations, but the adventure will be one to remember.
Surf the Waves in Mancora
If you're a water baby and love surfing, head to the northern beach town of Mancora. With its consistent waves and laid-back vibe, it's a perfect spot for solo travelers to catch some gnarly waves and soak up the sun. Book a stay at one of the many hostels or guesthouses, like Loki Hostel or Hostel Mancora, where you'll meet fellow travelers and potentially find surfing buddies.
Immerse Yourself in Cusco's Vibrant Culture
No trip to Peru would be complete without spending time in the vibrant city of Cusco. Wander through the narrow streets, explore the ancient ruins of Sacsayhuaman, and soak in the rich blend of Inca and Spanish colonial architecture. Don't miss the lively San Pedro Market, where you can haggle for locally-made handicrafts and sample delicious Peruvian street food. For a unique accommodation experience, consider staying at one of the city's historic boutique hotels, like Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel or Palacio del Inka.
