I’ve been traveling solo for the last ten years. Including a year long trip around the world. Solo travel is the best therapy. Loneliness and fear get quickly replaced by self confidence and self esteem. You can literally do anything after you travel solo! You’re never alone when you travel solo. Hostel commons rooms, walking tours and hangouts are loaded with other solo travelers just waiting to meet you. We’re all made of the same stuff. We all have your back.

Sounds like the right way for my next trip. Here's to going solo!!

Check out the Camino de Santiago. Great for a solo adventure! You can do the entire 500miles or do it over a few years in stages. It will truly change you. I did the entire 790 KM’s in 2015 and it is life changing. Happy solo travels as you explore our wonderful plant!

I'm in the same situation, but am a little timid. Any advice you can give me Sara?
Sara
Oh wow, Cindy. I was terrified. A week before I was so anxious and overwhelmed, but then I decided to just embrace the adventure and know it will all work out. Pick a place you've always wanted to go and just book it. Book activities and a good place to stay and leave the rest up to chance. The experience will open you and make you feel powerful and proud of yourself. Don't let the voices in your head hold you back. It will change your life. Now I can't wait to plan my next one.
Cindy
Thanks Sara,
will have to work on that! Will let you know if I do. Am going to New York with my sister this spring though, that will be a blast.
Sara
Love NYC!!!

My First Solo Trip: A Life-Changing Adventure
A few months ago, I posted a plea for advice, asking for guidance as a recently divorced woman embarking on her first solo trip. Despite my fears, I decided to take the plunge and booked a two-week adventure to Hong Kong and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
A Transformative Journey
Although my time was limited, it was more than enough to ignite a passion within me. I embraced the experience wholeheartedly and cherished every moment. From exploring the vibrant streets of Hong Kong to immersing myself in the serene temples of Chiang Mai, the trip left an unforgettable mark on my soul.
Overcoming Fears and Embracing Empowerment
Navigating unfamiliar places and cultures alone initially filled me with trepidation. However, I quickly realized that I was capable, resilient, and more adventurous than I had ever imagined. Each challenge I faced strengthened my confidence and fueled my desire to continue exploring the world.
The Power of Solitude and Self-Reflection
Traveling solo allowed me to deeply connect with myself and reflect on my life. The absence of distractions provided an opportunity for introspection and personal growth. I gained a renewed sense of purpose and a newfound appreciation for the simple things in life.
Indulging in New Experiences and Expanding Horizons
This trip opened my eyes to different perspectives and broadened my understanding of the world. I met fascinating people, tasted exotic cuisines, and witnessed stunning landscapes that left me in awe. Each experience enriched my life and expanded my horizons.
Gratitude and Inspiration
I am eternally grateful to those who supported and encouraged me on this journey. Your kind words and advice instilled in me the courage to step outside of my comfort zone and create unforgettable memories. I am inspired to continue exploring the world and sharing my experiences with others.
Next Adventure Awaits
My first solo trip has ignited a burning desire within me to continue traveling. I am already planning my next adventure and can't wait to see what the world has in store for me. I encourage everyone, especially those who may be hesitant, to embrace the transformative power of solo travel.
Remember, fear is often a barrier that holds us back from experiencing the fullness of life. By overcoming our fears and stepping into the unknown, we discover our true potential and unlock a world of possibilities.

A few months ago, I asked if any of you had advice for a recently divorced woman who was ready to take the first solo trip of her life. I was scared, but am happy to report I went for it!!
Last month I travelled to Hong Kong and Chiang Mai, Thailand by myself. I only had 2 weeks, but it was all I needed to get started. And the best is I loved every moment and can't wait for my next adventure.
Thanks to so many of you who supported me and offered advice. The trip changed … See more
