I did a 9 night tour of Türkiye with Travel Talk Tours in October 2021. Can’t say enough great things about Mustafa, our guide. Decided this was one time a tour would be the best option.
We started in Istanbul and went to Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Esephues, Troy and Gallipoli. Don’t miss the hot air balloon ride!

Istanbul Hotel Nena was great. Very central. Used Istanbul Studio Tours for two walking tours. Excellent and lots of general tips about life in Istanbul, tipping etc. Bosphorus half day trip with lunch arranged by Hotel Nena.

Turkey Travel Recommendations: Exploring Beyond Istanbul and Cappadocia

Turkey is a fascinating country with a rich cultural heritage, stunning natural scenery, and a vibrant culinary scene. If you've already planned to visit the iconic cities of Istanbul and Cappadocia, you're off to a great start. However, to truly immerse yourself in the diverse wonders of Turkey, consider adding Antalya as your third destination.

Antalya: The Jewel of the Turkish Riviera

Nestled along the Mediterranean coast, Antalya is a picture-perfect blend of ancient ruins, turquoise waters, and modern amenities. This seaside gem offers a unique combination of history, natural beauty, and family-friendly attractions, making it an ideal choice for your group of four adults and a teenager.

Highlights of Antalya

  • Kaleici (Old Town): Explore the charming narrow streets, historic buildings, and bustling bazaars of Antalya's well-preserved Old Town.
  • Aspendos: Marvel at the remarkably intact Roman theater of Aspendos, famous for its exceptional acoustics and impressive architecture.
  • Beaches: Relax on the pristine beaches of Konyaalti, Lara, or Kemer, offering crystal-clear waters and ample opportunities for water sports and sunbathing.
  • Düden Waterfalls: Visit the stunning Düden Waterfalls, where the cascading waters plunge directly into the Mediterranean Sea, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle.

Getting Around Turkey

Turkey offers several convenient transportation options to travel between cities. Here are some recommendations:

Domestic Flights

For long distances and limited travel time, domestic flights can be the most efficient option. Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines offer frequent flights between major cities, making it easy to hop from one destination to another.

High-Speed Trains

Turkey's high-speed train network, known as YHT, connects major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Konya. While there is no direct train service to Cappadocia or Antalya, you can take a combination of high-speed and regional trains for a comfortable and scenic journey.

Private Transfers or Rental Cars

For added convenience and flexibility, consider booking private transfers or renting a car. This allows you to explore at your own pace and make spontaneous stops along the way. Just be mindful of the driving conditions and rental regulations in Turkey.

No matter which mode of transportation you choose, Turkey offers a wealth of experiences waiting to be discovered. From the bustling streets of Istanbul to the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia, and the sun-drenched beaches of Antalya, your Turkey adventure promises to be a memorable one.
