where in Belize are you looking to go? Get out of Belize city. Caye Caulker is nice if you want the island life. San Ignacio is very interesting, Placencia is relaxing and laid back. Tobacco Caye is amazing but be prepared to do nothing but snorkel and lay in a hammock all day.

Get away from Belize City. We a place in Placencia so a bit bias. Belize City is not necessarily safe, especially for single female.

When you get into Belize city, grab a boat and head over to Caye Caulker (or Ambergris, I haven't been there though) and wait for your friends there. Belize is a beautiful country but get the heck out of Belize city as soon as you can

Take a look at Lamanai Outpost Lodge.
They do a transfer from the airport to the river followed by an hour boat ride. Great people, excellent guides, good meals. Price includes almost everything and they’ll arrange to bring you back to the airport on their regular transfer or can arrange to bring you wherever you like for a fee. Very
safe for single female.
Visit the ruins. Check out the Mayan canals on a sunset cruise. Skip the night walk. If they’re doing it pay for the air boat night time crocodile hunt (for conservation data - no crocs harmed). Also, birding is good if you like that.
Do not stay anywhere near Belize City.
Or try Placencia for sailing. - Alternately Chaa Creek Resort is great if going near San Ignacio
Enjoy!
