Where Should I Go for a 10-Day Trip in November with a 12-Hour Flight Limit?

Question:

Normally I never have a problem planning a trip. However, I only have 10 days to go somewhere, in Nov (11-20). I need some ideas as the where to go.
I do work for an airline, so it doesn't matter what city we fly out of in Canada! But we don't want to fly for more than 12 hours total!
Please share your ideas! Thank you in advance!

haha that's funny
I spent nine days there...flew into Lisbon and out of Porto. Rented a car and saw a bunch of the country. I'm an independent traveller (so I can't help with tour groups)...

Hi Holly, I heading to Spain and Portugal in November. Did you need an international driving license to rent a car in Portugal and was it expensive?

Profile picture of Holly

Holly

Not at all. Just my good old Class 5.

It was not expensive to rent (I guess define "expensive"). No more than it has cost in other countries I guess. I always decline the daily extra insurance as my TD Infinite Visa covers it. That save quite a bit of money.

Looks like David might be there at the same time lol. You guys should have a glass of port one night!

Did you picked any car rental or you did you research before?

I am a big fan of Sixt and I've used EuropCar with no problems. I just look for the cheapest, reputable company.

I also have TD Infinite Visa. Do I have to phone them a get any information first? So sorry with all the questions.

Gosh, no worries. I have never (in all my travels) presented anything or had to call TD. I just decline (despite the pressure they may put on you).

Check out autoeurope as they are a car rental broker and usually are cheaper. Also a good idea to get a letter from your insurance or some places won't let you decline coverage without proof. Also some countries require an international license, only about 25$ at AMA. Often the car rental companies don't check, but if you are stopped there an be big problems. We got one last year for Portugal. Loved the algarve in the far west.

So excited for you!! I'd be happy to pass along some of the things we did. One of the nicest countries I've been to.

...further to my last post, I'm a big "off the beaten track" kinda person so we try to find less touristy things to see and do. But mainstream stuff too. A good mix is important to me.
