What's the best 10-day itinerary destination(s) you've ever done? Have Aug 28-Sep 7 booked for vacation and trying to decide where to go--thought about eastern europe (Croatia, Slovenia, Budapest), Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto), or South America (Santiago, Easter Island). Would love input from someone who's done a similar trip length. Already done most of western europe so looking to avoid there. Thanks guys!

Depending what you like to do Tokyo Kyoto isn't a bad option. I personally spend more time in Tokyo but that's because I shop(eat) + have friends there but you can hit up most of the tourist destinations in 10 days for both Tokyo and Kyoto. Just consider flight time you lose a lot of time from just flying. I'm heading to Tokyo Kyoto end of month myself but only spending 2 days in Kyoto. if you decide to fit in more Osaka is pretty close to Kyoto as well. Suggesting getting a JR pass for the latter half of traveling out of Tokyo + if you take a train/bus to airport it makes up the cost and equates to cheaper than buying each ticket individually.

I don't know if I'd recommend Japan for that period, if it's your first time there. Humidity is indeed terrible and it's the beginning of typhoon season, which could be a bother if you only have a few days there and there's a typhoon during one of those.

Think about Greece's islands. There are so many!! For Eastern Europe I would suggest North-western and North-eastern Romania (Transylvania and Bucovina)

After soaking in the energy of Tokyo, head to the cultural heart of Japan, Kyoto. This ancient city is home to countless temples, shrines, and gardens that will transport you back in time. Day 7-9: Hiroshima and Miyajima

No trip to Japan is complete without visiting Hiroshima, a city that has risen from the ashes of World War II with resilience and hope. Pay your respects at the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, and take a ferry to the picturesque Miyajima Island, home to the iconic floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine. Spend a day hiking the trails of Mount Misen for stunning views of the island and the Seto Inland Sea.
