Go to Isla Mujeres on the ferry for the day. Rent a moped when there or golf cart and explore the island. Spend some time on the beach Playa del Norte. See the shell house. Got to the turtle preserve
Mackenzi
Kari thank you!
Teri
they also have a dog rescue over there called isla animals , they love visitors !
Jordan
I second Isla Mujeres. Also if you don’t have all of your accommodations booked, I would recommend going down to Tulum and spending a couple days there. It’s my favorite place I’ve been to in Mexico and the nicest beach I’ve ever been to!
Alicia
I would second spending some time in Tulum if that’s an option, you could check different cenotes there.
Sue
Jungle Spa in Puerto Morales. Excellent experience for couples. 5*
Heidi
You’ve likely done this already but we like to take the public bus to Akumal with our snorkel gear and simply spend the day snorkeling and viewing tons of turtles! No tour
Teri
If you are looking for something very different check out The Travellers table ! ( we have been to the are numerous times and this is a new must do. It is closer to playa though
Sarah
XPLOR is really fun with zip lines and Jeep rides and underground river swim
Marie
Girl! I will be there at the same time and we can spend a day cenote hopping.
These are the things on my list:
Sian Kaan bio reserve
Ek Balam (because pyramids are cool but Chichen Itza is too crowded. And Ek Balam has a cenote on site)
Also my friend lives in Playa del Carmen and he always has exciting but low key things going on. Sometimes they have jungle parties, sometimes they have a Temazcal (traditional sauna) . And I am always down to go to Isla Mujeres and rent a golf cart! I haven't done it in ages.
Mackenzi
Marie Amaro perfect, I don’t even have to plan!!!
Jeremy
I’m an adventure kinda guy, so I always go to xelha, xplore, xcaret, cenote swimming tours, swimming with the turtles in Akumal and I heard senses is pretty cool.
Ras
the world is too vast to only explore one spot 5 times lol

I am just trying to leave Cancún, we went on snorkel tour..... it sucked and once you see the ruins there isn’t much to do.....been to Huatolco a few times and lots to do there. Snorkeling is sooo good and didn’t have to book a tour. Did it from the beach our hotel was on.....
Marie
aww that's too bad it sucked! But there is sooooo much to do in that area! If you want any tips please let me know.
Mackenzi
Ps flights were $220 round trip from Edmonton to cancun! That’s why I’m going again lol.
Teresa
Mackenzi omg! When was this? That's an amazing deal
Brad
Isle Mujeres is great.
Kevin
Might be easier to say what you have done already or you may get a bunch of redundant recommendations...
Mackenzi
Kevin that’s fine.
Kevin
That said, have you been to Rio Secreto or Dos Ojos cenote? And I'm sure you've likely already been to Xel Ha...
Kevin
Rio Secreto is an awesome tour through part of the underground river system...very cool...Dos Ojos is AWESOME snorkelling although we dove there...beautiful. Xel Ha is VERY worthwhile...lots to do there...snorkelling, hammocks, jumping from the edge of the bay into the water, lazy river to tube down....lovely....
Coreen
Check out The Jungle Place. You need to book ahead. It's a Monkey Refuge.
Shannon
Take a bus to Belize, really cool culture and mind blowing snorkelling.
Go to Pelenque, visit the ruins and waterfalls and museum.
Check out other pyramids like Coba and rent a car to drive around to all the farther cenotes and beaches.
Bus to Guatemala and visit Tikal ruins (tomb raider was filmed there). Listen to the howler monkeys, camp in the park, climb the wooden stairs up the steep pyramids if still allowed.
Drive around Cozumel or down the coast.
Mackenzi
Shannon I’ve been to Belize before! Great suggestion

Exploring Cancun's Hidden Gems: Off-the-Beaten-Path Adventures
Cancun, the vibrant resort town in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, is renowned for its stunning beaches, lively nightlife, and rich cultural heritage. However, if you've been there multiple times like yourself, you might be craving something new and exciting to explore. Fear not, for Cancun and its surrounding areas offer a wealth of hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
1. Explore the Mayan Ruins of El Rey
Just a short drive from Cancun lies the ancient Mayan archaeological site of El Rey. Often overshadowed by the more famous sites like Chichen Itza and Tulum, El Rey offers a more intimate and less crowded experience. Wander through the remnants of this once-thriving city and marvel at the intricate carvings and structures that have withstood the test of time.
2. Swim in the Cenotes
Cenotes are natural sinkholes formed by the collapse of limestone bedrock, revealing crystal-clear underground pools. The Yucatan Peninsula is home to countless cenotes, each with its unique charm and beauty. Among the must-visit cenotes near Cancun are Cenote Azul, known for its vibrant blue hues, and Cenote Dos Ojos, a vast system of interconnected caverns and pools.
3. Explore the Isla Contoy Nature Reserve
If you're a nature lover, a day trip to the Isla Contoy Nature Reserve is an absolute must. This protected island is a sanctuary for various species of birds, marine life, and lush vegetation. Take a guided tour, snorkel in the crystal-clear waters, and witness the nesting grounds of sea turtles and other fascinating creatures.
4. Visit the Magical Town of Izamal
Step back in time and immerse yourself in the magic of Izamal, a colonial town known as the "Yellow City" due to its vibrant yellow buildings. Wander through the picturesque streets, visit the iconic Convent of San Antonio de Padua, and indulge in local culinary delights.
5. Embark on a Sunset Sailing Adventure
What better way to bid farewell to another day in paradise than by setting sail on a sunset cruise? Hop aboard a catamaran or sailboat and enjoy the gentle sea breeze as you sip on refreshing cocktails and take in the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and Cancun's skyline.
With these off-the-beaten-path adventures, you're sure to create lasting memories and discover a whole new side of Cancun that will leave you yearning for your next visit.

I’m going to Cancun in June (for the 5th time) and I’m looking for things to do I may not have done before! Any suggestions are welcome, I currently have a free schedule!
