Not a place or site, but a book. A novel by Christina Sunley called the Tricking of Freya. If you are into novels, this book is all about the history and language and landscape of Iceland set in an immigrant community in Canada. I've never been to Iceland and probably won't go, but this book made me love this culture. Have a great trip!

With a car, you could make it out to Svartifoss and Jökulsárlón. if you started with the golden circle tour (thingvellir, geysir, Gullfoss, Kerið crater) and then continue going east, it's about 400km to Jokulsarlon from Reykjavik. A rough schedule of 1-3 hours at each stop (plus the driving time) would easily fill two days, leaving one full day in Reykjavik. There are lots of waterfalls and places to stop and see along the south coast.

Angelica No prob. I drove around the entire country in June 2014 (didn't get to spend nearly enough time in the northern areas). It's an amazing place to travel!

Secret Lagoon!! PS blue lagoon is overrated, expensive tourist trap.

I have arthritis and was pain free for four months after spending a morning at the Blue Lagoon.

I wasn't planning on going to Blue Lagoon, it's way too much money. I will look into secret lagoon, thanks!

Linda I'm sure that that arthritis would have been just as pain free had they enjoyed one of the less "touristy" hot springs that Iceland has the offer. Like Secret Lagoon. We hated blue lagoon! Went in march and there were so many cold spots in the water we were cursing why we ever blew that kind of cash to go there. Just sharing my experience is all. Commercialized "Disneyland" of hot springs vs hidden gems Iceland has to offer

Exploring Iceland: A 3-Day Itinerary

If you're planning a trip to Iceland and will have a car for 3 days, there are so many amazing places to see! Here are some of my favorite sites:

Day 1: The Golden Circle

Start your trip by driving the Golden Circle, which includes Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall. The landscapes are breathtaking and you'll get a taste of Iceland's natural beauty.

Day 2: South Coast Adventure

Head to the South Coast to see iconic sites like Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara, and the charming village of Vík. Don't forget to stop at the Sólheimasandur plane wreck for a unique photo opportunity!

Day 3: Snæfellsnes Peninsula

For your final day, take a drive to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Explore the stunning landscapes of Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit the charming town of Stykkishólmur, and don't miss the iconic Kirkjufell mountain.

These are just a few of the incredible places you can visit in Iceland with a car in 3 days. Be sure to pack warm clothes, a camera, and a sense of adventure!
