I second Hanauma Bay. It's beautiful and a great place to go snorkling. There is also a good zoo in Honolulu if that's your thing. We also hiked up to Diamond head. A relatively easy hike with a rewarding view.

Also, if your teen is into shopping, the Ala moana Centre is fantastic. There is also a free fireworks show every week...you'll need to google it. It was great.

Alot of movies have been filmed there including jurassic park. Lost as well. There are atv and bus tours. Also on the north shore too, is where I went to a wicked luau.

Family-Friendly Activities in Honolulu with a Baby and Teen

Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, is a popular destination for families looking for a tropical getaway. With its beautiful beaches, lush landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, it offers a wide range of activities suitable for families with varying age groups, including babies and teens. Here are some recommendations for things to do in Honolulu during your week-long stay with a 6.5-month-old baby and a teenager:

Beach Time

No trip to Hawaii would be complete without spending some time on the iconic beaches. Waikiki Beach is a popular choice, offering gentle waves and plenty of amenities like beach rentals, restaurants, and shops. For a more secluded and serene experience, consider visiting Kailua Beach or Lanikai Beach. Remember to pack plenty of sunscreen, beach toys, and a beach umbrella or canopy for shade.

Honolulu Zoo

The Honolulu Zoo is an excellent option for families with children of different ages. It offers a diverse collection of animals, including exotic species like elephants, giraffes, and tigers. The zoo also features playgrounds, a petting zoo, and interactive exhibits that will keep both your baby and teenager entertained.

Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona Memorial

For a dose of history and cultural significance, visit the Pearl Harbor National Memorial and the USS Arizona Memorial. While the memorial itself may not be suitable for a 6.5-month-old baby, the accompanying museums and exhibits can provide an educational and thought-provoking experience for your teenager.

Dole Pineapple Plantation

The Dole Pineapple Plantation is a fun and educational destination that offers a glimpse into Hawaii's pineapple industry. Explore the Pineapple Garden Maze, take a train tour of the pineapple fields, and indulge in fresh pineapple treats. The plantation also features a playground and a garden maze, making it an enjoyable experience for both your baby and teenager.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve is a stunning marine reserve perfect for snorkeling and exploring the vibrant underwater world. While your baby may be too young to snorkel, you can still enjoy the scenic vistas and gentle waves from the shore. Your teenager can take advantage of the snorkeling opportunities and witness the diverse marine life up close.

Luaus and Cultural Experiences

Attend a traditional Hawaiian luau to experience the rich culture, music, and dance of the islands. Many luaus offer family-friendly packages and activities suitable for all ages. Additionally, consider visiting cultural centers like the Polynesian Cultural Center or the Bishop Museum to learn more about Hawaii's history and heritage.

Remember to plan your activities around your baby's nap and feeding schedules, and be prepared with essentials like diapers, wipes, and a carrier or stroller. Honolulu offers a diverse range of family-friendly activities that will create lasting memories for you, your baby, and your teenager.
