I regret not staying on caye caulker. It’s supposed to be a dream for snorkeling and beach bumming.

Love Caye Caulker... It's not the cheap paradise it used to be, but it's still lovely. San Pedro is less laid back, but it's great too... hiring a golf cart and going to Secret Beach there is a wonderful experience.

Placencia all the way.

Thanks for responding. Was leaning toward C Caulker. Layback appeal.
Will research Placencia Sharron.

I recommend spending some time inland too. Interesting sites, towns, and good to see how most people live.

How much time do you have? We were there for about 8 days and spent 3 on Caye Caulker (loved it), 1 night at the Belize Zoo (more an animal rescue-do the nocturnal tour), 2 days in San ignacio (ATM Caves, canoeing down the river, ruins) and 3 days in Placencia (laid back, beach time). The days don't add up because we spent time in Guatemala in the middle.

Nic a perfect blend of it all! Thank you.
I was reading about the strong smell of the algae that comes up every spring. I wonder if that should be a concern. I don’t actually think I would enjoy that. Apparently it has gotten a little bit worse in the last few years.
