Is there a way to get more legroom on Air Canada Rouge flights?

Question:
Humans say...
Albert
They have plus seating in the first few rows
Jan
......for an extra $100 or more.
Chris
I'm okay to pay - just didn't know if it existed...had a look on their website and couldn't find mention of it.
Rachel
Ive never flown them, but you may also be able to pay the 25/40 extra for seat selection and select the emergency exit row? My experience booking through air miles is you get what you get. It’s a trade off of conveniences for sure.
Stephani
Get the plus seating, it is pretty cramped.
Alex
Google the carrier, airplane type then seating chart. You'll get seat guru, bam answered your own question.

what alex and carole said. but youre only going to vegas, cant you tough it up? Its a really short flight.
Trey
Probably the tightest seat pitch out there. It’s just a transit bus - your knees will touch the seat pocket.
Until WJ ultra low cost starts flying as I am sure it will be the same. Too bad you don’t have a choice to fly regular air canada planes to LV.
Mandy
If you've flown westjet, take away 2-4 inches of legroom and that's rouge. Rouge does has premium seating and plus seating depending on aircraft
Lois
Check out seat guru.

we flew to Maui on rouge and it was a 2 3 2 configuration....we tried to upgrade our seats but you have to put in a bid and wait until 48 hours before your flight to see if it was accepted. If the the first class or upgrade seats are already booked you won't get anything. I find the seats a little more up right than west jet but if your flying to Vegas just have a couple beverages and you'll be fine...
Amanda
We have flown rouge a few times. For Vegas and LA it is fine, you use your own IPad or phone to watch movies once you download the App.
Renée
rouge
Amanda
I didn’t have an issue and I am 6ft. I found it was actually my best set of flights I was on my trip to the UK
Laurie
I flew air rouge once to Hawaii and vowed never again!!! Cheapest airline worst service ever!!!
Jaye
Oh no. I booked Maui with aeroplan and also have rouge flights. I’m 6ft with bad knees. Hope it won’t be an absolutely miserable flight. Especially for the red eye back.
Erin
Might be a bit tight for you. The worst part honestly is how bloody hard the seats are, it's like sitting on a rock for 7/8 hours, just did this flight a few weeks ago. The food vouchers you can buy ahead of time aren't actually too bad of a deal.
Jaye
Not worried about food just some minor comfort for the 6+ hour sit especially when combined with excitement and anxiety lol
Erin
Well like I said the ridiculously hard seats were the worst part, and we bought the upgraded seats too. Also they removed all the air vents that use to be above each seat so the flight was also extremely warm.
Elizabet
Jaye maybe you could bring a Thermarest cushion from MEC to sit on. They roll up pretty tight.
Gail
Try looking at Seatguru - it shows 'best' seats for all flights and airlines.
Kathryn
It’s a tuna can, at best.
Natalie
It was fine unless you’re a heavier person. I didn’t notice too much leg room issues and I’m 5’5
Ka
it depends on the plane - some are bigger/better than others. we recently were on a 5+ hour flight on rouge where the plane was old, cramped and didn't even have USB ports for charging devices to use the entertainment via the app on your own device. I've heard from others that other planes are newer and bigger. So I would check out the plane - you can upgrade to premium but it's quite a bit more expensive.
Chris
THanks all for your time to reply. Now that it is closer to the travel date, the planes have been changed, and I can prepurchase seats with more leg room - done. Originally indicated planes didn't have that option.

I flew to Osaka from Vancouver in last May
It was a long 10hour flight I found the service was good and the leg room was ok!
The ticket was cheap but They served food twice, nothing to complain about.
David
I’ve flown rouge tons. It’s just fine! Like any other carrier. The have 30” pitch on rough, regular air canada has 31” or 32” depending on the aircraft.
An inch won’t make a difference, unless you are 5’10 and taller!
Shizuka
Erin
Yes, it's seasonal.
From May to October
David
Erin to Osaka in the summer! I believe they are adding Nagoya as well!
David
Shizuka Hi Hi Hi!!! I miss you! How are you! So nice to see you!
Shizuka
David
I miss your warm smile!!!
Any big travel plan this year??
David
Shizuka Thailand march/April Italy/Netherlands in May, Hawaii (Maui) in November. You?
Shizuka
David wow!!
Full of adventure!
We are planning to go to Thailand in September.
I will try to go to Japan sometime this year as well to visit my family.
Mike
If you're tall, you'll be miserable. I'm flying rouge next month and I'm considering amputation before I go

Flying with Air Canada Rouge: Tips for More Comfortable Seating
By John Doe | May 1, 2023
If you've booked flights on Air Canada Rouge using your Airmiles, you might be concerned about the cramped seating conditions on this low-cost carrier. While it's true that Rouge offers a more basic in-flight experience compared to Air Canada's mainline flights, there are still a few options to ensure a more comfortable journey.
Preferred Seating
One of the best ways to get more legroom and a better seat on Air Canada Rouge is to select the "Preferred Seating" option during check-in or at the time of booking. This option is similar to WestJet's Plus seating and provides additional legroom, early boarding privileges, and other perks.
Preferred Seating is available for an additional fee, which varies depending on your route and travel dates. While it's not a cheap upgrade, it can make a significant difference in your comfort level, especially on longer flights.
Exit Row Seating
If you're tall or simply prefer more legroom, consider booking an exit row seat. These seats offer extra legroom due to their proximity to the emergency exits. However, keep in mind that passengers seated in exit rows must be able to assist in an emergency evacuation, so there are certain restrictions based on age, mobility, and other factors.
Exit row seats can often be selected during the online check-in process or at the airport, but availability may be limited. It's a good idea to check in as early as possible to increase your chances of securing an exit row seat.
General Seating Tips
Even if you don't opt for Preferred Seating or an exit row, there are still a few tips to make the most of your Air Canada Rouge experience:
- Check in online as early as possible to have a better selection of available seats.
- Consider paying for advance seat selection to ensure you get a seat you prefer.
- Dress comfortably in loose-fitting clothing and bring a small pillow or neck support for added comfort.
- Stay hydrated and move around the cabin periodically to avoid discomfort from prolonged sitting.
While Air Canada Rouge may not offer the same level of comfort as the mainline Air Canada flights, being proactive and taking advantage of the available seating options can make a big difference in your overall travel experience.

Hey All, I booked flights on Airmiles and realized after booking that it is air canada rouge - I have heard this is a really cramped airline - just wondering if when you are checking in on line is there any seating that has more room? Similar to Plus on westjet? Have never flown with rouge so no idea what to expect.
